How do you see your faction rep/status?

Missions clearly give rep or status points woth various factions. Is there somewhere you can see what your status is with any given faction? In the map I see some bars with red and blue areas, but that only shows 4 or so factions?

Also, how do i increase my merchant's guilds rank? And are there other guilds or factions that have ranks similar to merchants guild?

When in the control mode where you see the faction bars, that only shows you factions that are represented in the current system. As you move outward, you'll see others.

To advance in guild ranks, you need to complete missions given at the guild - the missions should show you faction rewards which eventually result in ranks (50 facton points per rank).

I haven't played the game too long, but from what I get is that there are side missions you can do for various factions, even the bad ones, I'm guessing that by increasing reputation with them either they'll help you more in fights or maybe you get more options of purchasing things from them and unlock even more side missions. That's just the feel I've gotten so far, but I could be wrong.

How do you get to that control mode? I don't see any factions whatsoever on the Map.

Press control, you will have a wheel of options pop up with the faction reputation bars above that wheel to the right.

Is there a max rank to each guild? If so, what is it?

Press the "Ctrl" key beside the windows key. It is the lowest left key on your keyboard.

It seems the Merchant's Guild doesn't show up when you are in the control menu. If you go to their station, it tells you your level with them on the bottom.
Edit: Oops, it does say it on there. My bad. It's just not with the others. It's on the left side.
