then with steam closed down and exited, i downloaded and repaired my existing c++ vs'12 package (x64) to no avail (steam prompted an error msg tho, despite i shut it down)..
i followed up with c++ vs'12 x86, and without rebooting my pc, and from within steam, my game launched..
i have win7 pro x64, and i do believe the x86 file was, what mattered in my case
Make sure to get the x86. I kept installing and unstalling with progress, but then installed the 32bit and now it seems to be working for me.
Otherwise, I hear console's are fully controlled for you and you don't have to worry about if software will run on it or not.
I know this is a 2017 post & necroing is very bad.
But this is also the top post that comes up when googling.
Nothing worked for me except using Repair with the Visual C++ Redistributable x86
I have a 64bit system, but apparently the x86 is what fixed it
