I haven't played with the Tachyons yet. Do you like them? I can buy some and try them out. I'll go try out the MK 5 once I get home. My last save has MK 5's in the station. I actually bought the MK 5 cannons again. I do like the long range and getting right up close to wreck total terror is awesome. So many players don't seem to like the homing missiles(can't select which target it hits) and the non homing missiles (they are only good up close and directly beside the target.
I'm still running the Barracuda. Just keep upgrading the equipment, that thing literally flies circles around everything...except fighters of couse. I eat dreadnoughts for breakfast.

Homing missiles are great as anti-fighter weapons and also help out with your turrets clearing out crowds of smaller ships while you're in a bigger one.

The DF Missiles are wildly underestimated. Anything relatively slow (almost anything Destroyer and up) can be hit reliably at relatively long range with them. They definitely shine in point-blank encounters (especially paired with Tachyons for even more added punch), but hitting a Dreadnought with them is cake. And it's obviously no trouble using them for anti-station missions or clearing out weapon platforms.

I absolutely adore the Barracuda for its ability to get outside of the instantly spawning circles of death, and then selectively engage targets on my terms. Of course, I almost always lose my wingman to those circles, especially when I'm grinding Merchant Guild missions...so I will often fly without one. I'm currently running my Barracuda with Mk. 6 Proton cannons to soften targets at extreme range, secondary Mk. 5 Flak to help thin the fighters and missiles, and a turret mix of 3x Mk. 6/Mk. 5 Particle, 1x Mk. 5 Viridian, and 1x Mk. 5 Mining laser.

I could easily trade out the Proton cannons for Neutron beams in this setup, but generally I prefer to kite at extreme range, at least until I've thinned the swarm to a significant degree.
got the Arcturus. still getting used to it's slowness.
It is slow, the turning component will be needed to help add 10 degrees of steering. The turning component will be needed for any larger ships later so might as well get it now..

Where can i find that?
You can find it at any station. Look under components.

Thank. i'm not in game at the moment would you know the rough price?
963,000 credits. It's the manuevering booster. I don't use it because I haven't had a case where it hurt in a fight.
Here is the next ship up the Manticore, Heavy Destroyer with all turrets mounted on top.
Man i get the Arcturus and i'm feeling pretty bummed. It's big and fits my gunboat playstyle..but i just feel so bored while flying it.
Good stuff, bump.
