Warp Pairing is a pain and needs rework
So i reached today the 2nd System (Inca) and also have done some of the new missions from there... and i must say the escort mission are a really pain.

I don´t really know what the problem is but it seems an basic rule for these mission that the Warp Drive stops by totaly every few meters of traveling. In the last mission i did i even use pulse after every stop and it was totaly nothing there that was hostile or jumped in to "Ambush" the escort.

Also it seems to give just 2 - 3 ambushes per mission where the "forcefull" stop made sense but the rest of the travel there where absolutly nothing in the way (aside from 2 Asteroid fields where it also made some sense).

Aside from the rest of the game Escort mission need an urgent rework to work properly cus it can´t be that i sit on my controller and just hold the A-Button to initiate one Warp pair after another due of this bug(?)

From what I have seen, the player's ship flies slower in warp than the ship being escorted. When they get a certain distance apart, the warp pair breaks, regardless if there are hostiles or anything else around. Definitely something that needs to be fixed.

One would think pairing one ships' warp drive with another would result in something akin to the convoy system in that every ship travels at the maximum speed of the slowest ship.

Can't comment on the main topic (it's been beaten to death pretty hard), other than to say it's known these missions are awful, but they're a lot better than they used to be. Also, something else you mentioned is worth commenting on too:

I've never seen "Inca" as a system name before. That's an awesome one :)

The game generates a new sector each time you play - the systems you have access to are randomly generated. There's only one or two places that exist every time (for plot reasons).
I've seen a lot of complaints about the escort missions, but I've only ever had one go wrong on me. While it's pretty buggy there are things you can do: don't pair warp if there is an obstacle directly in front of your ship, the AI will destroy obstacles in their way but will not bother to clear a path for you. You're always placed behind and to the right of the ship you're pairing with, it saves a lot of grief if you are behind them already. Don't travel too far from the paired up ship in random asteroid belts, this seems to trigger a repathing and the ship can decide to go in a random direction deep space is fine because it's so empty though. Don't force a repairing immediately after something ♥♥♥♥♥ with the AI's pathing, they'll get back on the rails if you wait a few seconds but they will seriously start jumping into the middle of nowhere if they have a midflight collision and you don't give them time to reorient.

The missions are a little slower than regular missions sometimes but the payoff can be worth it if you excercise a modicum of patience, the AI navigates well enough at this point if you don't make it's job harder.

Can´t really confirm that my ship was slower during the Warp Pair it was more constant when the warp was initiated at around 1,50 maximum distance down to 0,60 minimum distance depending when i started to initate the pairing after i positinoed myself.

Also a funny thing on this whole things is that when i follow an warp paired AI group i start to slow down until i reach an fixed distance and don´t can pass them directly when i don´t fly at the sides of these groups. So for AI groups this warp paring seems to work totaly fine while the escort mission seems to have some trouble from time to time.

@obliviondoll: Didn´t know that the game always generates new Systems and planet names (thought it would be fix) but good to know this... then maybe it´s also normal that i have 2 systems that are far away from the start system but only have max tech of MK4 and mission payment of aroun 20 - 50k but thread level is Extreme while my current system is rated Normal for me and has the same settings^^

I even have one system that is totaly isolated but i guess that it has to do whit the story and i can reach it later.
