Custom music not working?

I've downloaded some MP3 files and simply placed them into a folder on my desktop.
When I start up the game and use the custom music option, it doesn't even allow me to open the folder containing the MP3 files. I've tried just moving them directly onto my desktop but they still do not show up when I try setting them. I've even tried manually typing the directory location and launching the game to see if it worked, but it didn't.

The custom music launcher does say it supports both MP3 and OOG files, so I don't know what the issue here could be.

Alright, I tried using an online converter to change one of the MP3 files to an OOG file, then trying again to add it with the custom music launcher. Made no difference.

Now this is just nonsensical. I tried setting a path directly to where the game stores its music files (steamapps/common/Rebel Galaxy/music/...) and the default music files that come with the game do not show up either.
I don't get it.

once you've set up the path to your own music folders (for different situations) in the startup preferences screen, you also need to click a checkbox to enable custom music.

Wait a sec, are you only supposed to reference the folders containing the soundtracks and not individual soundtracks themselves?
And if so, does that mean you can have multiple soundtracks in the same folder and the game will pick any of them at random?

After testing this, it seems like it is the case. Thanks for the help.
Here I was thinking we could only have 1 song for each path.
