Judgement Hour
Can a dev give some clarification on exactly what is planned here? The roadmap says this

"The world setting will allow for world admins to set a certain hour during real life day as a Judgment Hour! During that hour all alignment penalties no longer exist! You can kill everyone on sight, without being afraid of alignment consequences. Claims protection will also be void, so it is ideal time to raid your neighbours. Be sure to be prepared for that outbreak of crime and violence ;)"

Does claims protection being void mean that anyone can open the door to your claimed home or warehouse? What about city or castle gates? OR does this just mean they will not get an alignment penalty for trespassing?

This will be the least used game server option in the history of online games and I will come back and say "I told you so" in 6 months. ;-)

An hour where walls could be breached and no alignment penalty would be decent. This sounds like a griefing hour tbh. On such small servers too.

I won't be implimenting this on my server, I play this game to relax not to have other players whine at me all night about "why I chose such & such an hour" or they lost "10,000" granite" & "can I GM it for them", & "go on, GM it for me please". Plus despite being a GM I play legit, I don't want to lose my hard earned resources either.

I just hope this will not be in the MMO.

I am not a fan of judgment hour. Why? For me, one reason is that it kills the realism. I think it should be implemented as a consequence for a major world event such as the killing of a King, Pope, or major officials. If it was a minor event, the destruction of a keep, death of a mayor, duke, count, bishop etc, the scope of these events could be limited to a kingdom or county. These events could be resolved when a new person fills the position, or perhaps last only a set ammount of real time hours, 1, 6, 10, 12, 24 after the event is over, depending on the situation. My basis for this would be the aftermath of the Battle of Poitiers when the French countryside erupted in kaos after the defeat and capture of John II.

You kidding me!?
If I found my self in a server with this "judgement hour " I will leave and never comeback to that server.

Oh Yeah! Is so FUN to get all your resources, that you actually spent hours getting, being robbed.

Promoting rats, thieves, parasites, and lazy monkeys with a sword is such a great idea!
Sociopathy and anarchy are SO awesome!

They are NOT

Wow! Just wow.

Ok, I see a problem if castle walls and city walls (stone or wood) become useless once a day because anyone can just walk through the gate. you guys ditched magic to add realism +1 ...but now doors and gates magically unlock themselves once a day for one hour and then relock themselves?
I'm not sure where you got the impression that locks all of a sudden didn't work. It just means that there are no alignment penalties for raiding/looting/pillaging.
Note that the concept of raiding and pillaging is 'very' feudal, but it doesn't negate the fact that it involves risk and work in itself! Raiders will have to dig under walls, etc to access protected areas.
Personally, I'm not fond of this idea but I do think it could be integrated if it were flehsed out better - say if the server admin could put it to a vote option, or perhaps if it weren't on a regular cycle but instead, a disastrous one-off event, or even some kind of prophesied apocalypse that is announced ahead of time and could be anticipated to some degree. Especially, if said prophecy only had a random chance of happening.

For judgement hour all locks would be voided including gatehouses/warehouses & your home. Here's the quote from Abu

"Does claims protection being void mean that anyone can open the door to your claimed home or warehouse?" - yes.
"It Utilises the combat aspects of the game. you will need to defend your warehouses/gatehouses from people whom wish to take your stuff. it's a good idea, and will give good reason to make weapons/level combat skills." - yes

Laura, Geek answered this for me. If this only delt with alignment penalties I wouldn't have a problem with it, but that is not what abu said. Locks on wharehouses and houses will be voided during judgment hour and the only remaining question is if city and castle gate locks will also be voided during this period. Frankly, this voiding locks concept damages the game far more than it helps. What is the point of building walls or a keep if it is unlocked once a day? Its a big effort to build walls and keeps and I don't think its too much to ask to have them do their intended job 24/7. If they are breached, overtopped, or scaled that is fair play and enriched the feudal atmosphere and spirit of the game but just unlocking all the doors and gates for an hour a day breaks emersion because this NEVER ever happens in real life, it discourages people from playing because grief will visit them each and every day and their defensive preparations (ie: walls) may be useless. We still need confirmation out gatehouses though).

This... this is not good. This is very likely the end of my participation in any JH server. This basically ruins the ability of any solo player to enjoy this game. I will not be forced into a clan/guild because the devs think thats a good idea, if i cannot play a game solo i have no reason to play it. Please Developers, reconsider implementing this poorly hashed out element as it WILL be the end of many of your servers if it really does work this way whether you see it or not.

Yet again, I think you guys fail to understand a few points.

1) Judgement hour can be turned off completely. If you like to grief, and be griefed, play here.

2) Judgement hour can be set to a full 24 hours, one day a week. Providing 6 days of building and securing getting "prepared" for war.

3) Judgement hour can be set to 24 hours 7 days a week, granting a carebear server.

4) Judgement hour can be set to 1 hour a day, with a set time, for people to go run around slaughtering each other.

5) Host your own server. Make settings how YOU want.

Once more, you are all missing the fact that its YOU who chooses what server you play on, this just gives admins more power to be able to control their world.

FACT - If you arent a server admin, dont comment on SERVER settings.

For admins, it a great way to thin out the population on your server. ;-)

We turned it off. Its a silly attempt at incouraging griefing if you ask me.

any server without JH has no sense then the monument should be patched out of the game
thegodsend Mar 28, 2015 @ 9:48am
to give everyone keys to the map is moronic. i can get freezing alignment, i can get dropping the guild zone. But are they really turning this game into The Grinch movie for an hour? Just some stranger strolling through the down opening locked doors with his fingure nail because ppl cant/dont want to clock in for every judgment hour. theres no real purpose for crafting locks if someone(s) can just come by during judgment hour.
