Bows/Crossbows

Just been shot by a bow, can craft them but not equip them due to the skill not being unlocked, as xbow skill required, which is not implemented. How have some people managed to equip these?

Nope you can get leather armor get beat on till you can use crossbows.

You can equip both xbows and bows, you just need to unlock and skill leather armor up to 30, then you can start using xbows, up to 30 again and then you can finally use bows. Of course in order to get bows you must have leather to 60.

Both light crossbow and basic bow are implemented. I crafted and tested only them without any GM commands

would agree with black and evgen... havent used it, cause "my" server was offline for 2 days... but u can lvl up in this direction and so i think u can use it...

/edit... was on leather armor 28, had full leather armor and an iron sword

GM spawning? There in game, you can craft them there jsut busted, you have to shoulder them after each shot, to relaod since there is no animations for them simply hit r to do that.

One this is over 2 years old... I didn't even know I was subscribed. I mean so old like I said I had to shulder the weapon to get it to reload, and it was insanly op like one shot kill op for almost anything back then it got balanced big time. And reason behind is so simple, xbow almost no skill to use, bow takes a lifetime to master in feudal age.

Its that easy, the xbow was the go to weapon for miltias, and conscripts pregunpowder it was the worlds gun, you can teach any one to load and fire it in one afternoon, and even if inaccurate with it, if they hit you with that bolt you were not gonna be combat ready so it was easy to hand over to peasants and say "stand on this wall shoot any one who tries to put a ladder against it or pound on that front gate." A bow to be good with especially in era were education for peasants was crap on purpose, there was very little litaracy took years of training. The peasants that could hunt with them learned it as children training for years with their parents till adult hood how to hunt with them.

A bow in these times was not a weapon you could just pick up and learn in a week, there was no lessons at your local high school, and no range offering any peasant who had a few copper lessons. There was no books or if their was you couldn't read them, there was some books for commisioned men to use to train soliders with, but as freelance peasant you not picking that up same place you got your cabbage, and pants from.

I mean I own a bow in real life, no one has taught me how to use it, just hand me down from my dad as an excuse to get an x-bow of his own to tell my mother when I was kid. Same with the hunting rifle I had fired it 6 times at water jugs in the woods, but it was mine so he could get a new better rifle, with out pisisng off my mother who said he already had a hunting rifle lol I know basics, but if took the hunter sights off it, it would took me a lot more work, and I had internet and what not to help me learn still had it for 2 decades and meh shot with it lol. But that x-bow hand me that I could learn to fire it well in one afternoon.

i need to correct you,,the first millitia weapons was trowing spears ,, then slingshot,,then bows,,and way later Xbow was invented
for hunting it was the same,exept for Xbows,they did not use them for hunting
Xbows was invented not becouse they where easy to use,they where invented to counter heavy armor

Still being asked because it still makes no sense. I can craft a bow I cannot use: I cannot craft a crossbox. Chicken or egg?

I should be able to at least craft and use a simple spear.

@Zalzanny: Since we are climbing a crafting tree, simple tech should come before advanced tech. Dont'cha think?
