Flattening?
Is there a trick? there's always this one patch that just won't turn green. You sit there for hours making the number equal, then, as if the numbers being equal isn't enough, you have to flatten it! I'm 99% sure you can build a hut on ground that isn't 100% flat + more flattening. I've seen huts built on slightly uneven terrain plenty of times (in the real world) and there doing just fine. Is the purpose of the final flattening part just to drive us mad?

its because just because its the same hight, doesnt mean there arnt ups and downs all over the patch. when it hits the same number, it means the average hight is that, and when you flatten it out you make it so that its actually flat, not just averaging the same height with uneaven ground.

have you been camping before? If so, have you ever had to "flatten" the ground, i don't mean clear sticks i mean actually smooth the earth?
I've never had to do that, because it really isn't necassary.
Anyway, thank you for the information on the flattening thing (no sarcasm, I actually didn't know that"

Stand on a flattened tile, and face the tile you want to flatten.
If you are standing on the tile you want to flatten, and there is a flat tile next to it, it wants you to stand on that flat tile, and point to the one you want to make to that same height, even though they already are the same height

As mention stand on the tile that is the height you want the other to be, then flatten move to the tile you flattened, stand on it, flatten next tile. And flattening isn't that hard, and you can make a hut on unlevel ground but in real life its not a great idea. Even in boot camp I took my e-tool, foldable shovel, and scraped it across the ground to flatten, and clear the sight for my tent of rocks, and sticks.

Lets, say you've flattened all but one square to 11, this one however, the last one, when flattened not only flattens, but it lowers the level. So now they are not all equal. and every time i raise it up and flatten it again, it just lowers the ground level. What is the problem there? It's super frustrating, not knowing why something happens.

Thank you guys for helping by the way.

took me a while to figure it out too

Flattening works by lowering/raising the tile that you are clicking on to the same height that you are standing on. Then when it is finally the same height the last flatten will clear the square in observe mode so you dont see any color at all, that is when it is fully flattened

You can easily flatten tiles to the level you want by standing on a tile of the height you want then flattening a neighboring tile. If you are standing on a tile that is not the height you want it will flatten the tile you're clicking on to the height of the one you're standing on. Perhaps a bit unrealistic but once you get it down it works beautifully.

Ok, so lets say everything is flattened. You go to build your whatever it is and as your building it it tells you you can't build that there. What once was perfect and all green now is sht and all red.

Make sure that nothing is in the way, including yourself. Other than that I cannot think of a reason this would happen. I've never had that issue unless I myself was standing in the "build zone". Even then it would let me go through the action of building and then nothing would happen. Make sure that you are also not taking ground material from downhill therefore changing the terrain above.

No, i'm out of the way. It has only happened twice but after 30 minutes of flattening it's very frustrating. Thanks for the feedback it really is appreciated

Sometimes if you are flattening into a hillside it will cause other sections to unflatten as it were. Hope you get it figured out.
