Unrealistic Time To Kill in game.
Am I doing something wrong or is the TTK in this game insane. Just started the game but trying to be a farmer/hunter/hermit type and animals take way to much damage. I have hit boars and wolves with 7-10 sling stones then went at them with axe and hammer.

Got nothing but dead. I heard this game was realistic but so far it is not even close when it comes to damage.

Tell me I am wrong and just missing something.

did you use primitive hammer and axes? What is your militia skill level? Is the quality of your weapons high enough? If so, then maybe thats the problem....militia skill * weapon quality = damage....(not actual formula I believe)

barebone dmg you might get around 5 - 7 dmg per hit...

A bear has around 800 HP....now you see the problem here?

I understand the problem. But if i hit wolf in the head with a rock it will die. I am just saying the hit points in this game needs to be tweaked.

I started watching PVP vids and it shows people geting a claymore to the face but waling away...

a few things are missing here ill add :D
each character has strenght..each weapon has quality
if the charcter has weak azz streenght he will not do a thing..
if the quality of the weapon is weak its throwing a pebale vs a rock

so with high enough strength and a decent weapon how many hits to kill a wolf? what about a regular bow/arrow?

Me and a clanmate of mine went out hunting, just to get some hides, but mostly just for the fun of it. I had a q99 bow/arrows he a q100 2h axe. took about 2 arrows (40 dmg each i think) and 1 or 2 swings with his axe(don't know what dmg he did) to take down a single boar. thats pretty realistic. If u attack a big wild boar in real life, it can take 2 arrows. but not 2 swings to the head, and thats what killed the thing. we both have high agility and high strenght. So yeah i think its pretty realistic.
There is no way in real life you could kill a wolf by hitting it in the head with a little stone......LOL

well hunting hostile animals with rocks and stones alone is just plain a bad idea... i dont think anyone ever has gone into the wild alone to hunt predatory animals with rocks unless that was the only option. With boars and wolves ull either need to abuse the knock down system (and hope they dont kill u) or grab a hunting party. you could probably get away with hunting boars alone if u take armor, a bow with at least 60 skill points in the bow skill and with 40ish strength.

dont have a bow? seems like its impossable to get weapons and armor? trade. My group has helped countless ppl by renting out our training equipment and setting ppl up with the basics. Once a group uses novice gear to train it just sits in a box and never gets touched again. Dont have anything of value? ud be surprised what you could get for just cutting down logs and stacking them for large groups with big building plans.

I mean the big rock on the end of my axe or hammer. and yes it would kill it.

How hard is it to get Q100 bow/arrows?

Plus a 2H axe will kill an animal or person one hit no problem.

I have killed larger animals than a boar with one arrow (brown bear) but to be fair my bow was probably better than the ingame version.

well, depends on a few things: the skill gain speed on the server, the Q of the tree u cut and your level in treecutting. but me and my guild know the spots to get Q100 trees/iron/stones etc. so its fairly easy to smelt a Q100 axe and make Q100 arrows/bows.

To say about the killing a bear in Real life, if u say so (and i believe u) 1 Arrow can do it. but that would mean u should be able to kill a person with 1 shot aswell ingame, and then it becomes something different, if we have Hitpoints, so should the animals.

It would depend on the arrow head, and you would have to hit it in the brain, and then that would only cause the bear to bleed to death, IF the arrowhead you used pierced its thick furry hull and skin, of course that depends on the bear and its size, but a human could of course die from an arrow, as its happened throughout history, as we are soft fleshy weaklings.

If it would be easy to kill with simple weapons, why would we then bother work for better weapons and better quality then? The game have to be challenging. Otherwise it wouldnt be fun and gaining skills for better weapons pointless.

What a good combat system takes into account quailty of weapons thats not new.. The combat is horrid in this game i suggest you go play some other games and you'll see what i mean. Combat should be fun no matter what level but combat in LIFYO is just unbalanced and the animations are awkward and lackluster. I don't find it fun running around a tree trying to get a well placed hit good combat, or chasing a defensless animal halfway across the iland and having to corrner it because it never runs out of stamina, not to mention wading through bad prerequisites to be able to use weapons and armor. It takes a skill to wear metal clothes lol i've never understood that in rpg's. If you find it hard to move in armor its because it doesn't fit right and the weight is not evenly distributed, it relys on a person having more strength and dexterity then skill. Wear a box and you'll find it hard to move in its got nothing to do with skill its more the awkward shape that hampers limbs to move freely. Your not gonna get better at wearing the box its always going to hamper your movement no matter how long your been wearing it for.

Blackrain, you have many good points. And i agree to some of them. There is for shure many things that need to be more balanced. But it doesnt justify what this thread is about. A new player who tries to kill a wolf with a hammer and the beginner weapon Sling. Lets say we agree. A wolf should be killed with a single shot by a sling. Yes, even a hit with the hammer would do the trick. If thats all we would need for a kill, wouldnt it be enough if we all just run around with primitive hammers and leave weapons out of the game?
The only thing i ever killed with a single shot from sling is grouse and hare. I got Sow with 4 shots. It sounds fair to me and i wouldnt have it any easier.
