I have 100 quality soil on 15 squares with added water placed on top, beehive in the center next to an apple orchard but still no honey, is there something I am missing? Thanks

I haven't played LIF for a while but in my memories honey quality and amount of production depends on the type and quality of the ground under the hive and the first tile around it.
So a 3x3 square for each hive, without overlapping.

The harvest can be done no matter where it is placed, but the production guarantee is associated with the production of the crops.

So to harvest honey in quantity and regularly, we must place the hives in the fields, sow and harvest. From then on, the hives will also produce.

No production in winter. And the tile under the hive have to be flatned.

Also, be aware that if in GM mode you use the codes to change the temperature, crops, tree fruits and honey will not produce until the server is restarted.

just logged on yes I recieved my first 12 lumps of honey, after the cycle of rain cloudy sun ECT ECT: I did an experiment and used various quality of woods and nails and got the best result of 97 quality honey

Honey production works best on a grassy tile according to wiki. It covers a 5x5 area. So space your hives out with 4 spaces in-between. You get more honey depending on the stage your crop is in. So wait until after you've harvested a field to max honey production. And yes, soil Quality of your 5x5 area matters. The best I ever did was 16 honey per hive as I recall.
