What time of the year is it in game? What has the weather been like?

Depending on the season it will take 9-12 ingame days. The MMO settings were 5 real hours per ingame day, check your server's settings.

It has changed now because only certain days will trigger growth.

Also there was a patch, quick fix so server restarts reset timer on the current state

Crops should work, but they require seasons/weather to change from shower to fair
Confirmed. Crops are fine in local tests

People on my server are having the same issue with crops not growing. Love the lack of detail in their patch notes.

The latest patch seems to have made many undocumented changes, including to farming.

Our main server is having the same problem. Farms have not advanced at all since the last patch. I have tried several other servers and ran a simulation in single player, and this seems to be the case regardless of the current season. We have had a season change and many patches of rain and sunshine since the patch. Crops planted both before and after the patch have not grown one single bit.

Either farming now takes a ridiculous length of time - based on the current time for lack of growth it would need to be at least a a few weeks real-time for a crop to mature - or as it is increasingly looking more likely, farming is completely broken and not working at all, particularly likely given the GM commands for farming don't seem to be working.

Also trees and herb farms aren't working on many servers from what I can tell either.

Feel like this patch should have had another few days of beta, or if it's just taking extremely long lengths of time now they should have announced it in the patch notes.

maybe they made crops like trees...6 RL weeks to grow XD

One of our members did get a response from Bobik last night. Yes, it is all working as intended. It won't get a growth tick on days with rain, but also wont get growth ticks if it hasn't had any rain recently. So you need regular growing conditions to get a growth tick. Too much or too little rain and the crop just sits there.
He doesn't know all of the details though, so couldn't get super specific. We also still don't know why people on the same server have crops growing at different rates, however there was another suggestion from a senior beta tester that when it gives a growth tick it only gives a *chance* of the growth tick, which means people whos crops are not growing are just very unlucky.

Honestly, I think the system is far too slow and unpredictable for Lif:YO.

I agree. The server I was playing on saw no plants (crops or trees) age for over a week now. I setup my own server, put the growth time down to 30 minutes, and same thing (~60 games days have passed). The /grow did not work and, in the server log, I noticed it did not recognize any crops to grow. The last thing I tried was a personal game to see if it was a dedicated server issue and that was identical. No aging on plants.

I really appreciate the designers desire to make the game real but, if weather has to be perfect for growing, I will have to GM crops as I cannot dedicate the time to get on and check crop growth. Hopefully they change this back to a normal growth cycle w/ weather impacting harvest only.

uuhh yeah. So I'm going to get home after work, plant a few hours later around 4pm my time, so the "standard rate" 3hr/cycle server I play on will have my results same time tomorrow...BUT WAIT!! There are several factors to consider, which means I need the metaphysical in-game equivelent of a Soothesayer (Make it happen devs, Soothesayer skill tree, add it in!). So I mean yeah, me and my group COULD all take a RL month off RL work to figure out your janky RNG crop system...

Or just fix it. Better yet, fix it back. Realism in gameplay must always yield to playability at some point.
Kevin Dec 5, 2016 @ 5:20pm
I don't think they understand that. Without speeding up tree growth and now adding armor and crops to our RP market at least 30 of my players would have quit already.

I started playing this game three weeks ago and so many of the mechanics were painstakingly tedious, and to be honest that was sort of the appeal.

But now, all I want to do is harvest these 600 squares of flax I took hours and hours cultivating and planting and terraforming the land to look awesome....

OR I guess I could just punch myself in the ♥♥♥♥. That's seeming like a less painful option at this point.

Realism is cool, but as it stands currently I may as well just walk out into the uninhabited wilderness IRL and plant some freaking flax. At least then it might actually grow.
