The Furnace has no light option?

I have tried, and yeah i have smelting unlocked my digging is 45, but i can't light the furnace:

I have tried with the crucibal on and off, equiped, and in the furnace itself, I have tried putting fiber in it, and branches, and still can't light it.

Is it broken, it may need to be repaired.

Thank you. Didn't notice cause it doesn't have a durability to inspect. How long is the decay on the MMO? I know that's YO above, but preparing for the mmo.

did you see if you were meant to use charcoal and not what you said you used.

I looked at your photo and noticed this
go to a kiln with 20 billets if you can as many as you can hold is normally what I do but put the billets in there with spare on you to put more in then wait for the bar to get to full then make charcoal then use the charcoal in the furnace(pretend I used gammer throughout this text)

durability is shown when you hover your mouse pointer over an item. Kilns and furnaces etc usually get a burnt or black look about them around the openings when they are broken.

Yeah, how do you repair it if you can't make a repair kit lol

the small repair kit requires a regular knife nails and billets you right click the knife

Is there a way to destroy the furnace? It would be cheaper to rebuild it than to repair it.

it's just that you can't get to level 30 smelting in order to start making nails with out wrecking 10 furnaces, and some forge and anvils.

So like you've got all these ruined things around and it's an eyesore, as well as being rather annoying

to destroy a furnace you need a monument or a gm

You can also trade for nails or repair kits with other players but I agree something is not right with the furnace and forge durability at the moment they break to easily and the small repair kits used to be able to be made faster so something has definitely changed

Yeah, it's unfortunate, because it makes leveling smelting a pain. Not that it NEEDS to be easy, but it's difficult because something isn't properly balanced. It's a lot of work to get to the forge and anvil, only to then have it break so so so fast. Way before you can even start making nails.

This is of course on a 1x server, as we're preparing for the mmo, and learning the game before that's ready.

I'm sure they will be working on balance over time. But yeah, this part is frusterating. That's why it is good to give feadback.

don't try to level smelting by making ingots. make lumps with your junk iron first. Then make the ingots and bars for tools once you have 60 skill and could actually level up forging.

Also Forging I would start with Nails to get your skill up. or you could make lots of handles and make knives with all those cruddy lumps.

also do you have Materials Preparation to 30 or preferably 60, i.e.do you ahve the up arrow on Smelting indicating it's unlocked?
