This fixed my issue. Thanks!
Ok i use the Saitek X52 aswell and no matter what i do i can not disable the Dpadup1 and Dpaddown1 (being the slider on the yoke) from contoling the up and down on the menu contols.
This makes setting controls almost impossible as the menu is always set to a up or down constant. Even deleting the Xml entrys from inputconfig does not seem to have any effect on the menu controls even though it effects the game controls.
Setting a deazone in the middle does not work either, for this slider, because the game recognises the last input for the slider as a constant button press aswell.
I have tried setting another control as the main default (one where DpadUp1/DpadDown1 are buttons not a slider) but the X52 seems to be stuck as primary control. Also setting controls to
DpadUp2/DpadDown2 just revert back to 1 when game is restarted.
The menu defaults seem to be coded in as a definate unchangeable rule somwhere.
Please if anyone has any idears i will try anything short of a reinstall.
As a side note. Why are are menu controls not configerable?
in the ingame menu go to "Options/Input Devices" and press the refresh button on the right side of the screen. This should automaticly map the slider values to correct values or block the axis completly. Sometime you have to move the slider a little to get recognized.
Another option for you is to set the slider to it's zero position, which is either on the top, bottom or exactly in the middle. And have you tried to disable or modify the slider in your system driver?
Unfortunately
1. There is no Off position for this control http://www.simhq.com/_technology/images/technology_040a_005.jpg the slider in the middle with the Direct X control of DpadUp/DpadDown. Even setting a Deadzone in the control panel for the controller the game still reads the last know input.
Note: This is only for Menu contols, but thats all that is needed to make binding and use of the controller impossible for some of the longer lists of contols, And thats if you cant be fast enough to bind the wanted controller before DpadUp1/DpadDown1 get in the way.
2. no combination of refreshing or removing the invading controls Via the ingame Inputdevices, Device Calibration, has any effect on the menu controls.
Possible Fixes: Best one would be to set the X52 contoler as Secondary so that the Slider binds as DPadUp2 as i saw here its set as 1.
I don't Know how to Force the X52 to be set as secondary. Even though a different controler is set as default (my G27).

The other fix i can think of is for someone to tell me how to be able to change the above menu bindings. looking deeper is seems menu controls have been given a value
<Rebindable>false</Rebindable>
that i assume disables editing of its bindings.
Sorry about the wall of text, on a bit of a rant because I have 2 friends who have similar problems and have laid aside their josticks for this same reason. Any help at all would be appreciated.
