I'm pretty sure the job was done - I got to the point where it told me I had dug enough, and did I want to continue (I said no). The digging job was marked 100%.
Again though, was I supposed to dump the dirt into the container? In a way it makes sense (why else would I bring a container), but on the other hand, I'm planting trees - won't I need soil for backfill? The game doesn't explain either way :(
the submission should be completed as you described at first. The container has to be dropped off in the yellow sqare on the right side when you enter the gravel pit. It doesn't matter if you had loaded anything. Once you clear the construction side, the submission should be done.
Please tell me the name of the mission so I can try it myself.
Interesting... so i DID do it right lol! ;)
Currently at work, so I'll have to check out the actual name of the mission... but it was one of the first 3 that were available - the one that paid the most (26,000 I think). It's where you have to work on the garden of the house right up the hill from your home base.
Well, it (strangely) worked itself out.
I got back into the game, and it still said I needed to unload the container at the concrete plant. So I jumped back to my green truck, that I'd left there previously. The blue container was lying on the ground, in the yellow zone, where I left it. I figured I'd lug it back to the construction site, and then take it back to the plant to see if it'd reset the trigger or something.
I was about to pick up the container, but as soon as the arms got near, I got the message that the mission was complete. It seems it got triggered by the arms moving into range of the container... again, I never picked it up - just moved the arms near. Weird.
Then again, I noticed you guys released a patch since I last played, so maybe that was it. I noticed that the view controls seem to work properly now with my 360 controller, so that's awesome too!
Anyway, just wanted to let you know how it turned out. Really enjoying the game so far (although the physics ca get a bit wonky sometimes lol!)
The contract i am trying to complete is 'Mansion with cobbled gateway'
There seems to be a lot in the game that is not obvious - I know that new features make the game more interesting, but the learning curve is so steep that I am thinking is it worth persisting
As for the learning curve, you could see it this way: in the game as in real life, there are usually several ways to achieve a goal. When the obvious way isn't working for some reason, it becomes a challenge to find an alternate way.
You're not alone. I've come across this a couple of times with the container, and even when excavating in other missions that don't have the container in it. It'll say 100% done in the list, but it never comes up saying "Clear Construction Area". I've even dug a buckets width over the marked lines without it moving on. If that happens I just assign an A.I. to finish it for me.
- Madman's solution above in post # 8, which is to assign a worker to complete the task;
- quitting the game and starting again, and putting the container on the ground again in the delivery zone, which triggers the task completion logic.
I'll have to try that when/if it happens again. I had the container issue happen once in multiplayer, tried resetting the task twice with no success, ended up just canceling the contract.
