Your strategy should be:
1- Accept any special job. These unlock new areas and more lucrative contracts.
2- Then accept the most lucrative contract proposed, to get money and XP, which unlocks areas, etc.
3- Purchase vehicles in this order: flat bed truck with crane, low-boy truck and trailer, 936 excavator, half-pipe truck, roller, concrete pump with concrete mixer, mobile crane, front-end loader, tower crane. This will progressively unlock more lucrative contracts, or make them easier.
4- Keep accepting only the most lucrative contract. The idea is to make more profit than your monthly payment. In a very short time you will only take 100K+ contracts.
5- When you can afford it, hire a worker and put him to work. You will make money faster, but will get less XP. So make him do boring delivery runs, or let him excavate if you're not good at it.
6- When you can afford it, hire an extra foreman. Then you can accept 2 contracts at the same time. Make them earn money while you keep working to get more XP.
Problems I see in your situation:
Over 100K is a lot. You may have workers and not using them. Put them to work or fire them.
You are paying for useless vehicles:
The concrete pump is useless without the concrete mixer. You should always buy those in pairs.
The 936 excavator should be bought as early as possible because it unlocks bigger contracts. Without it the half-pipe trucks and the low-boy trailer are useless. Also the 936 has a hook, it is quite useful for loading/unloading.
Unfortunately, it's too late in the game to change my order of purchasing vehicles, as the only ones I do not have right now are the concrete pump (which I forgot about), concrete mixer, large excavator, and the cranes,
I'll try out hiring a worker, especially for excavating. I love doing it, but I'm terrible, and I hate how long it takes.
Also, in the options menu put the financial cycle at 2 hours, it will give you more breathing space. And don't forget to pause the game (open the menu) when not playing, so the time stops passing.
I wasn't aware you could do that in the pause menu, thank you, and thanks for answering another question. I wasn't sure if pausing the game actually paused the time in it.
I do have a worker, but how do I make him do something, such as transporting goods?
But that's finished, let's put him to work:
1- After you have accepted a contract, open the menu, click on "Jobs", click on "Active jobs", click on the job to see the detailed list of stages and tasks.
2- Open the current active stage. You will see a description of the stage and its individual tasks.
3- The current stage has a worker icon, click on it to assign this stage to the worker. You will get a confirmation message.
That's all.
You can now grab a beer and sit down, and watch the progress bars slowly advance until the stage is complete. This happens much more quickly than when you do it yourself. Deliveries take a couple of minutes, excavation can easily take 15 minutes.
Or, grab a beer but don't sit down, instead open the next stage and see if you can prepare it. For example, if the next stage is pouring concrete and you want to do it yourself, now is a good time to get the vehicles to the site, go fill the concrete mixer, etc. Drinking beer the whole time, this is Germany after all.
If you plan to assign the next stage to the worker, you don't have to prepare anything.
Ha ha, thank you! Having another foreman and a few workers really helps.
