Mods - FAQ
German Version of this thread: Deutsche Version

With the Update 1.08 of Construction Simulator 2015 mods are available not only in singleplayer games but also in multiplayer.

This thread should help you to understand how it works and what to keep in mind while playing with mods.

Where to find mods for construction simulator 2015?
Construction Simulator 2015 uses Steams Workshop to handle mods. You can use the steam client or open the ingame overlay (Shift + Tab) and go to Construction Simulator Workshop to browse available mods (or simply click here).

How to install mods?
The process of adding a mod to the game is very easy: Find the mod in the workshop and subscribe it (there is a button for subscribing). That’s it!

This is what is happening if you subscribe a mod: Steam will download the selected mod file and reports the finished download to the game. The games copies the file to the right folder and adds the content to the game. This happens at runtime, so you can add and remove mods e.g. from the steam overlay at any time without restarting the game.

If you unsubscribe a mod at runtime it will be deleted only if it isn't in use. If it is in use, the mod will be deleted the next time you return to the start screen or restart the game.
Remember: If you unsubscibe a mod and it was in use, it will not be there anymore if you restart the game, so a mod vehicle whould be lost and a mod mission is aborted.

Unsubscribed Mods reappear
With the update 1.5 we added a workaround for mods that are subscribed but don't appear in the game. But it can happen that mods will appear even if you haven't subscribed them (any more). If you want to remove all mods please remove all files from this directories:

Windows:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015_Data\StreamingAssets\ModMissions
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015_Data\StreamingAssets\Vehicles

Mac:
  • %USERNAME%\Library\Application Support\Steam\SteamApps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015\Contents\Data\StreamingAssets\ModMissions
  • %USERNAME%\Library\Application Support\Steam\SteamApps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015\Contents\Data\StreamingAssets\ModVehicles

Then remove all .wbmv and .wbm files in your steam directories and all sub directories at

Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Userdata\%NUMBER%\

Mac: %USERNAME%\Library\Application Support\Steam\Userdata\%NUMBER%\

There could be multiple Folders in the Userdata Folder. Check all!

Then restart the game. Steam should download all subscribed mods again and all old mods should disappear.

Type of mods
Currently there are two types of mods: Missions and vehicles. If you can’t see what type of mod you’re looking at in the workshop, look at it’s tags on the top right of the mods detail page: There should be a “Mission” or “Vehicle” tag to help you find out.

Missions mods will add a new playable contract to the game, vehicle mods add new vehicles to buy.

Where to find mods in the game if installed?
  • Mod missions will show up in the architects section of the contracts screen.
  • Mod vehicles will be available at the vehicle trader.

Mods in multiplayer games - active and available Mods
In multiplayer games we distinguish between active and available mods.

An active mod is a mod that is currently used, e.g. a mod vehicle that is bought or a mod mission that is started.

An available mod is a mod that every player in this multiplayer has subscribed to.

If a player wants to join a multiplayer game that contains active mods, the games needs to make sure, every new player will have this mods, too. If you try to join a game with mods you haven’t subscribed to, a dialog will ask you, whether the missing mods should be downloaded. If all mods are installed, you can join the game.

In the game only available mods can be used, so if one player hasn’t installed a specific mod the others want to play, this mod can’t be started. If the host clicks on a mod (e.g. start a mod mission or buy a mod vehicle) he will be informed, which players don’t have the mod and whether this players should be notified. The players then will get a message that asks them, whether this mod should be installed. When the mod is installed, it is available for the host.

Mods without steam – local mods
If you have a mod file (e.g. from one of our mod editors) you can test it with your game without subscribing it in steam. We call this a local mod. But this is only possible in singleplayer games (see explanation below).

For mod missions you have to put the “.wbm” file into the folder:
Windows: \Steam\steamapps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015_Data\StreamingAssets\ModMissions
Mac: USERNAME\Library\Application Support\Steam\SteamApps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015\Contents\Data\StreamingAssets\ModMissions

For mod vehicles you have to put the “.wbmv” file into the folder:
Windows: \Steam\steamapps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015_Data\StreamingAssets\ModVehicles
Mac: USERNAME\Library\Application Support\Steam\SteamApps\common\ConSim2015\ConSim2015\Contents\Data\StreamingAssets\ModVehicles

This mods are only available in singleplayer games, because it is hard to find out if every player has exactly the same file. Therefore, if you start a multiplayer game with an active local mod mission, this mission will be aborted. All active local mod vehicles will not be loaded during the multiplayer game, but will be restored if you play a singleplayer game next time.

How to make mods
There are two mod editors available for the Construction Simulator 2015: The mission editor and the vehicle editor. Both are tools we used while developing the game so you have the possibility to do the same things we did for missions or vehicles.
For detailed information please look at the subforums Modding: Vehicle Editor and Modding: Mission Editor.

Modding Tutorials
We have published numerous modding tutorial videos for owners of the Steam version in the Community Hub of the game. The tutorials will help adding their self-made vehicles for the game. Here is the link to the modding tutorials:

I had the same problem,
All mods added from steamworkshop but the didn't show up in my game.
My game was installed on the d:/ drive.
After uninstalling it and reinstalling it on the c:/ drive all mods showed up in the game.
Hopefully this will work for you too. :spintires_tire: :spintires_tire: :spintires_tire:

Dev's, could you please change the game so we can sell the initial vehicles in game to free up garage space. Specially with more mods showing up the parking space limit is getting annoying. (you also can't sell the default yellow modile crane when having the tracked crane in your garage and when you have a crane mod in your garage)

So you subscribed to a mod in steam? Was it a mission or a vehicle?

This is where you find mods in the game:
Mission mods can be found in the architects section at the contracts menu.
Vehicle mods can be found at the vehicle trader menu in the import vehicle section.

I also am having problems using mods i have subscribed to in the steam workshop yet non are showing up when i try to purchase in vehicle dealer the Import Vehicles button is greyed out even though i am subscribed to those mods as above it only seems to be since i have had all 5 DLC's

Probiert mal folgendes Programme 86/ Steam/Userdata/112274419/ugc/referenced Öffnet dann

Just try the following programs 86 / Steam / UserData / 112 274 419 / UGC / referenced Opens then
the number folder and look whether WBM file or WBVM and then copy it into your mod folder
and lo and behold it's all been subscribed
Kopieen Hint power of your Mod folders that can be inserted directly at neuinstall
Hope it goes well with you

Are there any corrupt mods?

In offline mode disappear all mod vehicles, and when I come back online, I can only "buy" again by the machine dealer.
The folder "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ ConSim2015 \ ConSim2015_Data \ StreamingAssets \ ModVehicles" exists and inside there are all .wbvm files, the game is in singleplayer mode, but every time I try to play without internet, mod vehicles are gone.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
badjester  [developer] Feb 15, 2016 @ 1:24am
And you're running steam in offline mode?
nichifor Feb 16, 2016 @ 1:35pm
It happens that I start the game on a computer without internet (it's not a crime :-)), I'd like to continue to play with the mod vehicles, but does not work ... However, these vehicles have bugs, wait for improvements.
badjester  [developer] Feb 16, 2016 @ 11:05pm
That was not my question :). If you have no internet connection and you start steam, steam can't connect and you have to run it in offline mode for the game to start at all, right? Steam currently has some problems with subscriptions of mods. Maybe there is a problem with steams offline mode.
