Tips on digger and digging.
A lot of new comers can get frustrated not understanding how to dig with the excavator. Here are a couple tips for you.

Fisrt, If you click on the contract icon in the right corner with the man with the shovel it will show you how much of a % you have completed digging. At 75% the game will ask if you want to continue digging.

Second, if you monitor your % you will probably notice a typical hole will yield about 3% a typical shovel load of dirt. So, you are looking at 25 or more shovels for that hole.

Third, be slow and methodical. If you accidentally unload a shovel full back into the hole this game is going to make pay dearly for it. If you dump that dirt back into the hole you will end up maybe reshoveling 5 - 10 times to make up for it.

Fourth, dig on with your excavotor on level ground. Roll into the dig area and start shoveling on one end and back up as you dig staying out of the hole or holes.

Fifth, If you want you can park your truck next to the dig site and shovel into it. You can sell the damn dirt and get like $800 a truck load for it at the gravel pit. This is one reason you may not want to assign digging to a worker. Putting the dirt into the truck also helps make the digging more efficient by not having to maneuver a shovel load of dirt around it.

Sixth, have fun, i hope other posters give more tips in this thread for you about digging. Monitor your progress, it is not as tough as it seems, unless you screw up.
