stuck in "your first task"

I'm stuck at stage 4 of "your first task".

"drive the truck to the materials monger"

I've driven the truck back and forth to the materials vendor several times, I've driven it to several locations around the map, done sight seeing, driven it back to the construction site, driven it back to the materials dealer, tried to drive OVER the materials dealer... Now just parked 2 inches from his nose.

I have already caried the item called "drain pipes" on the truck to the construction site, then discovered that you could tie it down. oh well, drove the forklift to the construction site so I could unload the pipes, played around with that some and then tried to drop them on the foreman's head, having nothing better to do with them.

I then bought the item called "container" and picked it up with the green truck and brought that to the construction site, I just dumped it in the middle of the place, haven't thought of anything silly to do with it yet.

I'm completely and utterly stuck at this point. =(

Does the "drive the truck to the materials dealer" task shows up as completed in the task list?

I eventually got around it after like two hours, the script system is VERY finicky, =( For example, you go and pick up 4.0 m^3 of bleep and dump it on the site, noting that your truck reads fully loaded immediately before you dump it, but you end up 25% short of the requirement... I didn't understand this and went to get some spruce sprouts and put them in the same square, which wasn't correct, I eventually had to sell and re-buy the spruce sprouts and place them in a new square that appeared after I did a second dirt run. This is really really annoying because that was a lot of work getting all those little suckers over there. =( I mean both tasks were part of the same phase of the work order so there should have been a sign saying "put ur dert here" and "put ur plantz here". and then let the player do it in any order.

Don't worry, most missions are much easier. The early missions (actually, the whole Village part before you move to the city), are a kind of tutorial, some of them are too much detailed and finicky and some of them have bugs.
Take time to learn the interface, there are indicators on the screen that tell you about each task's progress, and you can open them for more details.
Dumping dirt is slightly buggy, you experienced it. Some dirt is lost in the process. By checking the task progress, you can see that it isn't finished, which means you have to get more dirt.

Later missions are more "open", tasks in the same Stage can be done in any order and by any player.

oops, moved to the city too soon and now I'm having to service village contracts from the wrong side of the map. =(
