sorry for the delayed response and that your save file has disappeared for you again.
As this is an older game, the save files are mainly saved locally on your system.
You could try and see if the save file is within the save game folder. You can find it by following the steps we have available in the article here - https://ubi.li/rhVc2
There should be a folder with the id "857"
If there is more than one (which you have mentioned that the game brings you to sequence 2) then this indicates that the save may be corrupted or if its not there, that the game may not get the permissions from your system to create / modify the save file which could be why the progress has been lost.
As these are saved locally on the system, we would not be able to restore or repair them, I'm afraid.
I understand that this may not be the answer you were hoping for. But I hope that the save file is within the folder and that the game will recognize it the next time you launch the game.
Let us know if you have any other queries.
