4:3 800x600 black bars on top and bottom
I have a widescreen monitor on laptop (1920x1080) but I want to lower the resolution to improve the fps. If I select 4:3 800x600, for some reason I get bars applied on the top and bottom instead of the side (which is the correct way). As results everything looks squished, with the characters chubby and short.
Maybe someone posted about this but all I can find is people who wants to REMOVE the bars (to each is own, I think I prefer the correct proportions to a fullscreen)

There isn't. Game files are locked down tight.

Hey there,

I changed my game to 4:3 800x600 and it still actually covers the entire screen, no bars anywhere.

There is a "Stretching" option in the graphic settings. Setting this to "off" and using 4:3 will make it take up the whole screen, but obviously this will look very blurry at the resolution you've chosen.

Setting it to Windowed with these settings will make it rather small but I don't think there is a setting to have the bars left and right.

I'm sorry for any disappointment caused by this!

Thanks for the reply.
I know about the stretching and the fullscreen mode but I was trying to keep the aspect ratio consistent (16:9 fullscreen, 4:3 with black bars). Also I was hoping to apply the black bars in order to make the game go faster as it would needs to load less pixels and still keeping a good image definition (albeit smaller). Other games put the black bars on the side if you select 4:3, as this is the result of switching from a 16:9 to 4:3 resolution, keeping the proportions of the game elements unaltered. I was just wondering if there was something wrong with my options/ini files/whatever.
I guess I will just play the game in blurry fullscreen or 1280x720 16:9 with low framerate.

Thank you.

EDIT: I realized that 800x600 (4:3)stretched keep the same proportions of the game elements at 1280x720 (16:9). So I understand how my previous message could be confusing. Nonetheless I was hoping for the side black bars in order for the game to load less pixels, therefore gaining some fps, but still keeping the image defined (albeit smaller). Other games do that when you select a different aspect ratio than your screen/default resolution.
Thanks for the replies!
