Assassin's Creed Unity's Texture Draw Distance
What the hell is wrong with it? The city looks terrible, unless your stood about 2 feet away from a building THEN the textures seem to load in. Im playing in HIGH, is there something I can do to fix this? Is anyone else suffering from this?

What video card are you running? Or did you alter any config files to improve performance? I seem to recall some posts around here suggesting people change a setting in the config which essentially turned off streaming textures, causing last-minute texture pop-in like what you're describing.

i would suggest validating the files through steam if you bought it from steam or uplay if you bought from them... that helped some people

The draw distance could be better, I have also noticed that in the ACU.INI file tessellation is disabled. I would imagine another visual downgrade.

Nope, not a downgrade. Tessellation is being added in a future update by Nvidia:

No, doesn't seem like it. I started a thread on the official forum about the poor draw-distance near the game's release, and several of us have posted screenshots depicting the issue in more detail.

Link to the thread is here:

All we can hope for is a patch, though, judging by their track record, I wouldn't hold my breath.

textures on high for me and it looks perfect, even buildings very far into the distance.

I have definitely noticed draw distance acting really odd while playing the game. Doesnt happen all the time, but it definitely occurs.

That screenshot is with ultra settings btw

I know this is an old post but if you're giving AC Unity another go or are playing it for the first time, this might fix the problem you have with the buildings looking out of texture from afar:

After starting the game and changing the graphics options that best suit you, exit the game and navigate to your Documents folder and find the Assassin's Creed Unity folder. Inside it open the ACU.ini file and find the line that says: TextureQuality. Now add the value of 3 to it (TextureQuality=3) and make the file Read-only. Now start the game and you'll see that the draw distance of the buildings is fixed.

My Graphics Settings are in High and in the Advanced Graphics section I've set Ambient Occlusion on HBAO+ and Anti-Aliasing on 2x MSAA.

Comparison Images:

The weird thing to this fix that I found after a lot of customizations is that it shouldn't work at all because the maximum value of Texture Quality is 2 (Ultra) and the value 3 shouldn't be able to change anything. Another thing is that in the Assassin's Creed Unity folder there is a .xml file and technically that's the file that's making the graphics changes happen and the .ini file is just acting like a Target for the Graphics Settings (If you change the values in the .ini file and open the game and navigate to the Graphics Settings, you'll see that nothing is changed but if you change the values in the .xml file, you'll see the changes in the Settings when starting the game.)

I really hope this fixes your issues with the Draw Distance.

Im going to re-install Unity and give this a go! Will update again with whether it worked or not!
