To jump backwards, simply hold sprint and then space. Then press a directional key to grab onto something.
To jump sideways, hold the sprint key and press A or D. Note that you lose the full range of parkour motion without using a controller, so you need to do some pro MLG swag mouse camera controlling + A or D if you want to do a diagonal jump.
You can do both of these movements while not only hanging from a ledge, but also while in mid-wallrun. Assassinations are also possible in mid-wallrun but you need to be out of conflict. There's nothing cooler than a wallrunning double assassination, and I've been doing it since AC2.
There's also something different about vertical climbing in Unity. It seems that, for some reason, holding forward + sprint + jump makes you get higher a lot faster. I believe this is also used to "skip" entering a window, and instead continue climbing above it. It's interesting, because fast-climbing has been streamlined since AC3 (meaning you no longer need to hold sprint to fast-climb) and now we have some kind of FAST-fast-climb.
If anyone else is having trouble on the 360 controller:
hold right trigger and spam A
Not really, you only gotta hold RT and press A
BUT! do NOT touch the analog while doing it or it doesnt work.
I've finished whole game without it as i thought there is no "jump back" as it was in previous versions of AC ... I really don't understand why game didn't tell me this. How i figured it out? Doing Enigmas for Master Assassin's outfit, when i was climbing and jumping over those gasses, suddenly notice appeared that i can do "back jump" :(.
Unfortunately i was doing Enigmas just for fun after end of main story and with almost every side missions completed :/.
So what's the magic for the good old "just sprint and seemlessly climb a wall" thing. It somehow only works if I hold shift and press an arrow key + space bar at the same time, which is pretty annoying.
Anybody already figured out how to get the AC4-like gameplay back?
Man is this game so much fun now. Whatever updates and crap they did really helped out and now I'm so glad I got this. Feels like such a great evolution of the "assassin" part of the "assassin's creed". The games after this one took it a whole other direction (granted still good games), but not core assassins creed, ya know?
THANK THE GAMING GODS you made this post and it for answered. Ive been trying to wall eject so many times and it wouldn't work, it was driving me nuts. But double tapping A on the controller while holding the free running trigger worked like a charm.
Just letting you know, the future in 2020 is not what you would've expected, and is kind of uncertain, but you get a ton of time to play a ton of games lol. Gaming industry is kinda soaring right now.
Peace out from the future bro ✌️.
