I actually heard about the save game loss issues before this, and turned OFF Uplay cloud saves for this very reason.
Guess even THAT wouldn't save me.
Then again, still could have been from my PC crash, the game might have been auto saving and that would cause an obvious problem
The issue happens randomly, regardless of what I am doing. It doesn't seem related to any game or games, as idling on desktop can cause it too.
It always freezes whatever image is on screen, and infinitly repeats the last sound made through the speakers over and over until I hard restart the machine.
I have run several virus scans through Norton 360, and I don't have any virus, though I should probably try a scan with something else like avast to make sure.
Anywho, any suggestions on either the save game, OR making my PC stop crashing are both appreciated.
(Oh, btw, you weren't rude at all.)
Specs: CPU: I7 3.4 GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 660. 2 GB
RAM: 16 GB (Excessive, I know.)
I couldn't find the savegame folder, this could be me being dumb.
Also, having started to play the game over in an attempt to catch up, would that file be gone now?
It wasn't obvious for me. For me it was on win 7 64.
Computer->local C drive -> (Program files x86)->Ubisoft->ubisoft game launcher->save games ->*some rediculous number crazy folder name* -> 857 for me
I have located the files.
Though, the "last modified" dates on them show that they're after I started the game again, that is my own damn fault. Then again, I didn't know I lost my files until I hit A to start on the main menu and it booted from the beggining, autosaving instantly.
All older files are from before the game came out. So probably splinter cell or far cry
Well, they're worth a shot anyway, so, assuming this isn't the file I'm running now, where should I put these?
Also, did you install anything in your computer just before the issues starting popping up?
I don't remember exactly how long I've had it, I know it's the same motherboard I started with this Rig soo..
Year, year and a half rougly. Same age as the CPU. GPU is only a month old. (Yeah, upgraded from a 550 TI to a 660 in prep specifically for this game. Guess who feels stupid. Still get medium high settings though. pretty smooth.)
My first guess would be a motherboard issue, really the only way to figure a lot of this stuff out is having someone, or yourself, do good old fashioned troubleshooting, (removing a stick of ram and seeing if that helps, etc etc)
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say its a motherboard, RAM, or more likely, since the GPU is the newest part in the computer, the GPU.
EDIT: Problem with that is if you dont have a extra GPU or integrated graphics on your mobo you cant check if the GPU is the problem.
Though, the GPU is the one thing I actually can rule out, and it bothers me.
I had this same exact issue on my old 550TI. I was hoping replacing it would fix it, but turns out the problem lies elsewhere. I catch no breaks.
Yea, try the ram first, if thats not the problem try getting CPU-Z and watching you CPU temps. Make sure its not getting too hot, and if thats all good, your motherboard is probably damaged in some way.
I will tell you though, if you end up trouble shooting all of your hardware and think you have found the problem go ahead and run a malware, and virus check, and then run the windows repair just to make sure.
Dont wanna run out and buy a part unless your absolutely sure.
EDIT: Obviously it could be a CPU problem aswell, but CPU's rarely go bad. If they do, you probably heavily shocked, dropped, or let it get WAY too hot.
