Need your help: imac ?
Ok, I need your help here guys :(
I'm looking at buying a27 inch iMac for common day to day activities.

Specs: 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
8GB (two 4GB) memory
1TB hard drive1
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M with 2GB video memory
Now, I've seen that this mac could probably play AC Unity on medium to high settings via boot camp.

So, after looking at what money I have, I could only really afford this iMac if I removed the pre-order for my PS$ and used the savings towards it.
The questions I have for you today is:

Are the specs of the iMac as good as the PS4?
Could I play most PC games on it?
If I purchased it, could I consider myself a mac elitist?
*What should I do?

Or just buy or build a PC more bang for buck.

That ridiculous price you paid for a mid-range computer, you could have gotten a really decent PC. You have even natively booted up OSX on it.

I would not buy it for gaming, boot camp is an emulator and will slow games down and probably make them unplayable.

And it has a mobile video card, the 775M, the "M" meaning mobile.

It will just BARELY run this game, if at all, even on lowest settings. The mobile cards are terrible unless they are least a 780 or better.

I really would not get this for gaming, you'll regret it.

Check out: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/, you can build your own PC there using their configurator and get an idea on pricing. If you want to do some light gaming you need at least a GTX 970, or a GTX 780 (which has come way down in price).

*sigh* apples for people who give into commercial media, feeble children, people pretending they're DJ's and professional video editors

gaming PC's should be built from the ground up this IMAC is a waste of money if your going to use it for gaming.

Boot camp is not an emulator. It's a normal dual boot.

DOH!

You're right.

Ok, but the system still won't play games well, the 775m will be holding it back pretty hard.

Of course it won't. It's a Mac.

You sure that it would be problematic for gaming on imac? specs are not bad...

thats a very mid ranged computer. might as well buy an xbox 360. if you want to play pc games then ditch mac and build a pc. you can get much better specs for cheaper that will blow ps4 out of the water. im a computer tech i know and ive seen this a million times. if you buy a mac you will be very dissapointed. watch videos on youtube to learn and build a pc. you wont regret it, but if you buy a mac or a console then you very much will reget it

what about OS X? I understand that PC is much more cheaper but after using OS X on my macbook there is no desire to have win8. Maybe best choice is PS4...

why would you download windows 8? just buy windows 7 64 bit. its better than os x and ps4

What do you mean with "light gaming"? GTX 970 (and the 780 for that matter) is pretty much top of the line at this point.

If you need to use Mac OS X so bad just build a Hackintosh.

Apple bleed you dry for a fancy aluminum.

But it is up to you but I would bet my left ball that 80% of the steam community would say you are better off getting a PC for gaming.
