Is this guy a friend or foe? He didn't seem as such a bad guy in Assassin's Creed unity. However in Dead Kings he was planning on raising an army of raiders.

It's not necessarily black and white. He was more of an ally than a friend during the story, but all men can be corrupted by power. Look at Washington in 3.
