As soon as I start the game and the ubisoft logo in the beginning fades, it just freezes and I have to alt tab and then it crashes...

I played this game before and almost finished it but had to uninstall it and now its not working? I tried redownloading and still the same issues

specs: i7 3770k 4.6ghz GTX980

Supposedly the solution is to play 500 questions with ubisoft support, who will be of no assistance to you, until you get to the point where you ask for a refund. You will then be told that they cannot coordinate with Steam for a refund and that you must do so yourself. When contacting Steam for a refund, even with records of conversations with Ubisoft support, they will redirect to you Ubisoft support for any issues with this game. I have had the same issue since the launch of the game, along with a couple thousand others, at least. You, sir, just wasted your money. Sorry.

I'd say go through the motions for these issues:

Assuming you bought it through Steam since you're on the Steam discussions, verify the integrity of the game cache within the game's properties.

Aassure you have the latest video driver.

Check Windows Updates for any miscellanious updates that could affect the runtime or something.

Try running the game with administrator privelages (locate the game's executable (.exe file), right-click, run as admin).

Here, this will make the game skip the Nvidia and Ubisoft intros and go straight to the Unity title screen with the bonus being a faster startup. Of course I suggest backing up the following files in case this does not work for you, though no reason why it should not.

1. Head over to Assassin’s Creed Unity/videos folder.
2. Rename file UbisoftLogo.bk2 (it doesn’t matter to what you rename it)
3. Rename file pc_TWIMTBP.bk2 (it doesn’t matter to what you rename it)
4. Go to “en” folder (located inside the videos folder) and rename both files that are in there.
4.5 Do note if you are playing the game in another language other than english, then you’ll have to go to the corresponding folder and rename the files. For example, if you are playing in German language, the folder name should be “de”.
5. Load the game and there ya go.

Ecchi, that just removes the Ubisoft logo at the start and it crashes on the ACU logo instead. Akerno, As you can probably tell I have the same problem. I have similar specs which may have something to do with it (i7 4790k and GTX 980.) Have you fixed this problem?

To anyone looking, the problem is the latest NVIDIA driver. Revert to .43 or whatever it is and you would be fine, this is the only way I was able to do so.

same on my site , ac3, 4, Unity and rogue are having this issue , dont know what happened , they worked perfectly before ... i tried using the previous driver , did not work , maybe should try the one even before that .
oh and in case you are wondering , it happens on win 7 aswell as on win 10 , i was even reinstalling my whole system and it did not work.
I think downgrading nvidia driver helps. It happened me with Battlefield 4. When Nvidia launched new updated game started to crash before starting both SP and MP. so I downgraded the same

@Mauriarty could u be more specific about the version u mentioned above?
