Incredible discovery about AC Unity Hidden music and how to unlock it
Ok, before anything , this may not apply to you, maybe you did have ambient music at all times and not just on main missions or when you enter a fight. If not, if you don't have much music, read on (it may not be too late yet)

I'm playing ACU for the second time, and i've noticed first time i've played it, that i didn't have any music, outside the main missions. The game was too silent (musically speaking of course). I tough it was a shame, and that because of the great soundtrack this game has, it should had been used more. I remember hearing when arriving in Paris, some ambient music, maybe...but that was lost, i've played the game many hours and nothing. It just wasn't there.

Well, i was playing these last missions from the last sequence, and also completing secondary missions...i play my last murder mistery...done, that part of the game is done, moving on...and then...something weird happens... i start to hear ambient music, all the time, everywhere, anytime!! (no, i wasn't going crazy!) These are, like small segments of music, of different kinds, lasts no more than a minute, but very well done, and lost and lost of tunes (i don't know how many there are, i just lost count). They are also very different between them, and change according to place i think.

The thing is, i had a theory, that, for whatever reason, when you start playing ACU and you do your first murder mistery (and until the moment you make your last one) ambient music is absent from the game.... yeah, i know, this sounds crazy (and a little too out there) BUT, i waited after finishing the game for the first time, and i started playing a second time.... at first i was indeed hearing ambient music, on versailles, and first moments of paris. Then the moment i do my first murder mistery, the ambien music stops, never returns... and after playing some time (and some more), and finishing all murder misteries, the ambient music returns. It even may return before finishing ALL missions...

So my advise to you would be, if you've just started the game...and you want to hear real ambient music, DON't play any murder mistery...unless you don't mind loosing ambient music until the end of the game.

If, you already played some murder misteries, and you want to get your ambient music back... I suggest finishing all remaining murder mistery missions.

Let me know if it works for you
cheers

Pablo

I didn't notice that although to be fair I'm one of those uncultured people that do not care much for the artistry that goes into game music or sound engineering. I do however listen to OSTs outside of the game but in-game? I barely notice anything at all and this not just for ACU. I think my brain isn't wired that way. Anyway to your point, I wouldn't be surprised. There were a lot of things that weren't working correctly when it was launched and the band-aids they released didn't caught all the problems but in fairness sake, it's working far better - still buggy from my experience but better. I guess loss of ambient music would be harder to catch than an NPC having only a floating set of eyeballs and lips, so this may have not been addressed at all.

Yeah, i could very well believe it is that, it is sad to say, because there are lot of things from this game that i love, but then you have the problematic parts, and stupid errors, like this one (i don't even know if you can call it an error, to lose ambient music) but, anyway... and it brings the experience down a couple of points, just because.

Speaking about music and soundtrack, if you are interested in listening to the OST outside the game, the game itself gives you for free the Official Soundtrack of AC Unity. You can have it as an Uplay reward, you go while in uplay window to the game info and you check the rewards, there's one with the Offiicial Soundtrack and graphic novel, and it just costs 10 uplay points (so, any uplay action done in game will grant you this).
This the Simple CD version (1 CD), and i like it more than the double CD version. The one cd version is more accurate to the music you hear during the game and cutscenes and is more precise and to the point. And still, it's like 70 or 75 minutes of music.
The double cd version (you have to buy that one) it's like two and half hours and it's just too much to listen to.

Yeah...i guess no one else really noticed it, or care to notice about the loss of ambient music it seems... oh well

Yeah mate, sorry about that but Ubi, for most of their games, cease updates after a few months post-launch. The Crew of course is an exception as it is a different beast. By the way, thanks for the tip. Yeah I got those but haven't downloaded them yet. I usually don't bother with the Uplay rewards so I have missed both entirely until later this year.

I will have to try and remember to listen out for ambient music the next time I play. I seem to remember hearing some really good tracks playing in the background, but I can't be sure. I almost always turn down background music to about half on their sliding scales (when the option is offered), not because I don't like the music, it's just that I don't like to be playing a game and constantly getting bombarded with "battle music" all the time. My brain doesn't work that way, and a glaring background soundtrack is very distracting at times. Same thing with stealthy parts of games, I hate trying to quietly sneak around somewhere...and there's this loud blaring soundtrack playing in the background. Very jarring. And I curse games that don't offer an option to quieten them down.

Yeah, i understand what you say, battle music (in this case, conflict music, each time some guards see you and wants to punch you) kicks off every time and can be annoying... But at the same time if you mute music you are loosing on the other music, the ambient music (when you are free, not doing any missions ) there should be an option to disable batlle music and just leave main mission music, or ambient music also

I REALLY miss my music in AC Unity, I'm hearing nothing :'( Are you saying one would have to complete ALL the murder mystery stuff? Or can one just begin a new save or something?

Did you end beating all the murder mysteries and did the ambient music comeback?
