Do you mean the outfit file or a different file in the games directory?
Is it the "DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge"?
Or did you also use the DLCs(Saint Denis) and the Versailles.
"DataPC_ACU_Versailles.forge" and "DataPC_ACU-DLC_Saint-Denis.forge"
Normally when replacing the outfit, you have to extract those files then paste your mod inside of it after the extraction, then you may have to rebuild it. If you haven't touched your anvil tool settings, it must have a back ups on every changes you made.
My story:
I used to have the errors when my games crashes whenever I loaded it with the mods, because of the issue on extracting the DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge file incompletely.
It should have at least 3gb+ after the rebuild and I noticed it was only around 1.7gb.
I validated my files and tried it again and it worked.
Perhaps something similar happened to you. So I suggest to try to delete the file you modified "DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge" then try to validate your files in steam so it'll only download the missin one.
If you're not wantin to wait for the validation, try finding the backup file that the anvil tool has made during the changes. It should be in the back up folder inside the game directory.
I see, can you write down a list of easy steps to help me modify the game properly in the directory and anviltoolkit? I’d appreciate it thanks
First lemme introduce the files that usually gets modified for the mods.
The basics:
"DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge" - This forge file uses the primary assets on the game, especially the main map of the game, most of the mods needs to be in this game file. (If a modified outfit is installed only in the "DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge", the modded outfits won't be able to work on the other map such as Versailles and Saint Denis as they reverted to the default outfit.
"DataPC_ACU_Versailles.forge" - This is the forge file for the Dead Kings and for the Saint Denis. If you want to see your modded outfit on the saint denis, you might have to insert the modded file to its forge.
"DataPC_ACU_Versailles.forge" - The forge file for the Versailles map or on the earlier part of the game.
Finding Mods:
- You can find the mods in the NexusMods, there are instructions of how to install the mod. So you better check on it, if you haven't seen them yet.
Uses of the AnvilToolKit:
We'll be using the DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge as an example
-First find the proper forge file or the forge file in the mod's instructions.
-Click the unpack button (You have to wait several minutes depending the size of the file and do not close any window of the anvil tool kit especially the console during the process or it'll instantly close not crash)
-Once you see the message on the console "Successfully read forge file" you can navigate to the Extracted folder in the game directory.
There's also a folder named DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge open that (The folder name would change depending on what forge file you unpacked)
-Get your downloaded mod, and extract it into the Extracted/DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge folder. Replace the files if there's a prompt message.
- Once you're done replacing the files. Go back to the AnvilToolKit
Navigate the DataPC_ACU_Paris.forge folder inside the Extracted folder (You'll be repacking the folder not the forge file). Then click the repack selected forge file.
-Wait for several minutes until you see the message in the console "Successfully written forge file!"
Then that's it, you can do it on every forge file but make sure that it's needed.
Launch the game and test it.
If it still doesn't work, I would suggest to validate your game files. If you haven't done it already.
