Why you shouldn't pre-order AC Unity, or any Ubisoft game.

For the record I very much liked the early Assassins Creed games and thought they where great. As for recent releases, eh, not so much.

First off, Ubisoft has a terrible reputation for buggy games and overall an unfinished product at launch. It never seems like they go through all the nitty-gritties before they actually release the game to the public. Which on its own is a good enough reason not to pre-order, or buy at launch.

Secondly, Ubisoft has terrible tech/customer support. I have read on forums (and experienced myself) how Ubisoft is slow to reply to support tickets and address issues in their games overall. I bought Splinter Cell: Blacklist back in January and of course good ol' Uplay crashes on start up all the time and the game turns unplayable. Literally, it crashes after the copyright disclaimer. It took Ubisoft tech support pretty well a WHOLE MONTH to even write back to me about who is handling my ticket and describe the problem, etc. Completely unacceptable. They also pretty much ditched ever trying to fix that game basically by not releasing any more updates after 3 months of it launching due to the fact that it was riddled with problems.

And finally, yes the game looks good. I think a lot of people can agree that all Assassins Creed games look pretty stellar in screenshots and gameplay pre-launch. But this alone does not justify going out on a whim and sinking your $50-$80 (based on location I think, I'm not sure) on something that you dont know anything about yet. Let it launch, get reviews, and see the feedback about the game before making a senseless purchase on it, you might end up saving your money.

Well, this is a forum for a game that isn't even out yet, so none of us have played it. And by 'hating on the game' I'm assuming you mean criticize it, which people are totally justified to do on the games own forum, there has been enough footage shown for people to express an opinion on it, good or bad. I personally think it looks kinda meh, would much rather have Rouge on PC than Unity.

So because he has a different opinion to you and have presented valid reason why you should be wary to pre-order this game he should shut up? I haven't seen you give any counter arguments or evidence, all you've done is act like a child and swear and tell him to shut up.

I can tell how you're feeling, and I've experienced it before, but I've never had any bugs happen to me when using uPlay. Possibly becuase I'm using Steam too, I don't know. I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just saying it might not happen to everyone. Thank you for the warning though, if it ever happens I'll know what to except.

I agree with a lot of the points that the OP made. I loved AC 4's pirate setting, but I've still had mixed feelings towards some parts of it and towards almost everything else Ubisoft's been putting out. Quantity over quality. I've had a glitch in AC4 multiplayer that doesn't let me earn credits, and I put in a ticket over two months ago, and still haven't gotten it resolved. I really don't feel like buying another one anytime soon.

I also am a history buff and find the the French Revolution to be a fascinating setting, but I can't imagine that it's really going to feel much different from Italy, Constantinople, or any of the other prior settings. I'd probably be more optimistic if I didn't get the feeling that they get all of their history "knowledge" from conspiracy theory shows on the history channel.

ACIII haven't been fixed on PC. Never. I regret to purchased this one on pre-launch, and I think Watch Dog (PC) users too.

the game has new combate that i have seen firsthand new parkor that i have seen first hand new coop that i have experanced and new stelth that i have experanced the story looks intregeng like a sorta grey area thing and i am agressive becouse you all seem to thank that a coumpaniy is saten

I dont like uplay so I stopped preordering Ubisoft games but I buy them on sale at 75% off. My backlog is to big anyways to worry about preordering an AC game which is more of the same.

I read it, the one about seeing the game first hand? Thats great and all, glad you like it, but to me it still looks mostly the same overall. I mean throwing in a few new things when everything else is the same to me at least doesnt make much of a difference. The game still looks like more of the same to me mostly regardless of if the main character can dance a jig or mooonwalk. Scratch that, if he could moonwalk id buy this game in a heartbeat. But ubisoft hates fun so that aint gonna happen...

Yeah it's kind of weird, Uplay works fine for some people but its pretty much garbage for others. I've never seen anything online really that helps troubleshoot at all either. But if its working all good for you then I'm jealous! I really wish I could've played Blacklist.
