As with regards to a lack of a female character, I'd like there to be a level of customisation in AC games with the main character, the series is shooting for annual releases, why does it need to have deep characters, the writers are strained to flesh them out properly. The story part of the games has always been not just the weakest part but an anchor to the series, I'd prefer they moved focus away from it and just let you have a design your own assassin thing when the game starts.
Afterall inclusivity can only benifit the series as it can add more possibilities for the AC universe to explore, just imagine the possibilities if you could not only be female but from different cultures aside from Europe and America, how neat would it be to jump across the forbidden city roof tops as an assassin for the emperor.
This, it's not about gender but rather about quality, and gender does not play a factor in that.
What we need is a character generator, that way anybody can be what they want in the game.
Well if you read the rest of my post you'd have picked up on me saying exactly what you said XD
Second that. ^-^
Personally, I prefer to play as female characters, because it seems almost every game has you playing as a white guy in his 20's. It gets old.
It's not like guys can't find female characters interesting. Look at Mass Effect, to me, the female human characters (including female Shepard) were far more interesting than the male ones.
What makes you think I didn't read it and what makes you think I don't have a right to repeat what you said?
If there is no reason to have a male protagonist for games like Portal, Tomb Raider, Mirror's Edge despite the gender being 50/50 (I will need your citation that 50% of Assassin's Creed gamers are female), then I really don't see why there should be a female protagonist for Assassin's Creed which has traditionally always being about a male protagonist.
If you cannot enjoy a game without a lead male character, and it must be female, there are other games out there for you.
It is the most bizarre reason to be angry about. IF there has always been a female protagonist, and then suddenly you remove her in the sequel, I can understand.
But the protagonist Assassin's Creed has always been male, and to suddenly get angry that there are no female playable characters for Unity. Um, haven't you been playing since Assassin's Creed 1? Haven't Altair, Ezio, Connor and Edward all been males?
You didn't have a problem with them being male for the past few games, why now all of a sudden you get mad that Arno is not female? A female playable character was never expected for numerous sequels, nor promised.
People have also already countered numerous times, that there are also games where there are no male protagonists but male gamers have no problem looking past the gender of the protagonists and can enjoy Portal and Tomb Raider.
This outrage is totally out of character. It is most bizarre, so the only conclusion is that we have closet feminists trying to be politically correct for their own agenda. Even games have to be filled with politically correctness.
There are more important issues that women face in real life that you should look into, the lack of a female playable character in video games is not one of them. Check your priorities.
What did the fact with her being a woman have to do that it was a bad game? did her butt distract you?
Cause your 4 people and in all the other AC mulitplayer you could be a female. And they made it look like you where diffrent people in the E3 trailers, instead of doing a obvouis solution letting the coop players be assassin recruits and just start with 3 so you can play with them from the start. and lock the AC rec abilities when your playing with friends. and when your playing single player you unlock them so your still get a story with 4 diffrent people just much more focus on Arno.
The best part in the AC games in my opinion is the dialog with the Main chair and the Assassin recruits. they could have done a very cool thing and make you feel like your part of an order instead of one man hero guy to the rescue....Like kind of every other AC game the main char saves the order for being destroyed...and when they are dead or gone the order just fails and fails over again untill then next main chair comes and have to fix everything again.
but...you're being sexist by claiming others are sexist....
