Hardest difficulty? Anyone beat it?
So, any brave souls who have tried the hardest difficulty “endless” I’ve tried it over and over. Rushing the closest opponent and take over their cities can get you like 4-5 “free” cities. But even then you are so way behind it is ridiculous. Has anyone beat the game on hardest? I played on a medium map, with 8 other factions.

Hello,
I suggest you to take a look at the following thread, few players have already talked about it: link. :)

Largely what the AI lacks is building up a city, they enjoy making lots of small cities even if you give them cellulose.. so.. if you make a city leaning that way, or a custom like that, you are bound to have an advantage in the long run, especially if you play it safe for the majority of the game until you have just enough to take over one of their cities that you really like.

The main difficulty in endless difficulty is that the enemy AI just expand so much faster than you and build armies so much faster as well. I have won in endless quite a few times and I do it by not angering many AIs early on to give me time to build up my army and gain some territories. Then I play the diplomacy game until I see the weak link of the AIs and that is when I pounce and start my aggressive expansion lol.

Yes, I am playing a game now. Impossible, medium map, 8 players, slow pace, pangea. It is no problem, I am sure i can win. But Playing "endless" is just a quantum leap in difficulty. Sure you can customize and play a small map and rush, but I want to beat it for "real) :) Well, well...

Just finished a game on "impossible", 144 turns, expansion victory. 8 factions, biggest universe, everything rich/many.
no alliances (-10 trait). no pirates though.

Playing Harmony with latest patch im a bit dissapointed on how weak the ai fleets are although they make many on "impossible". 90% of the battles i win without losing a ship. Making the ai never really a threat.

some fleet tips:
long range kinetic, deflectors, medium range beam, shields. all in around the same quantities and you'll rarely loose a battle. later in the game make a dreadnaught class with 3 armor modules and rest mostly deflectors/shields. they'll target this 1st over the other ships.

Did you find "endless" much more difficult than Impossible?

Methinks somebody has accidentally posted on the wrong forum :D
