Eternal Winter
I see this has been discussed before, at around turn 140, to the current turn, 250, winter has been going on without a counter, and while I like the idea of the coming appocalypse (although it isn't all that damaging), I think this eternal winter should be optional,.. well, mainly.. because it's a pain when you want to take a nice summer screen shot ;)

hmn, that's good to know ^,^ hopefully there's an eternity option :P
although a 1,000 should probably cover even the most long term of sessions.

you can already play as long as you want, nothing is stopping you.
Yeah I Know, It's just extreamly incumbering balance wise (like for food) for many of the races.. and the appearance of it is less vibrant as it is in summer.

There are many hero skills and research options that are there to counter this. If you cant overcome it try altering your playstyle or try a different faction. It really isnt very incumbering late game when your talking about some factions take it harder than others but by turn 200 you should at least be t3 research so not an issue.
Yeah. I know, I have said the exact same thing and think it's relatively fine from a mechanical stand point (although some of the things are summer only even if you have a hero to counter it).

However, it's still an annoyance, but, meh.
For example at tier 3, you get 50% increase to all food in the influence point bracket, but that is completely gone in a winter scenario.

All of my governors always get the cold immunity for winter, top middle bracket.

Op as hell and really really helps a Rover out.
Anyway, the eternal winter thing dun' seem real, probably a bug on your end.
I'm on turn 430 right now and still switches like always, had a 20 turn long winter or something like that though I believe.

Maybe it was updated recently, but at what speed did you have it at Cal? (Fast is 150 for example, while normal is 300, and so on)

I wish this would be something we could opt out of when starting a game. I like to play on huge maps mostly in sandbox mode. Gimme!

Hit my eternal winter, solidly, at turn 300.

Thought it was pretty epic, was able to tell something was up with the way the seasons were changing turn after turn before it finally settled on winter; was like a battle of the seasons.

It's a fun little surprise, and I'd opt for it if there was an option. It throws a fun little kink in the usual cog of 'Summer-Winter' that you get used to.
I imagine it'd get kind of boring though, after several games of hitting eternal winter and pimping your troops out with adamantine...

I only play on endless, haven't tried any of the other speeds yet.

That's why, Endless has a 'maximum turn of 600' so it likely won't happen till close to that. For 'Endless' Game Speeds.

Also keep in mind that many of your building enhancements I beleive are Summer Only, no matter what immunities your heroes have, but I may have to double check that.

Of course in fairness.. a number of them are 'Winter Only' as well.
