As said above, it was the ban, not the removal of the mod, that drove all of us mad.
We didn't really mind if the mod was banned or not, because with new patches it was no longer available. And we decided not to update the mod any more just because of unity's poor support of Chinese.
As of the 3DM link, because there are no offcial ways for Chinese to get an older version of this game.
I've no idea what to say. This is basically a no-win situation.
Ok, but what ban? None of you seem to have been banned from the Steam Community, because you've all posted in this forum. Were you banned from something else?
I guess the three options are:
1. Find a different place to host their old (not cracked) version of Endless Legend
2. Update the mod to be compatible with the latest version of Endless Legend
3. Give up on the mod (which is what they've currently chosen).
I think that might be another misunderstanding.
In his complaint on local forums[steamcn.com] authors shows a screenshot of the automated email[steamcn.com] he received from Steam.
It's explicitly stated there, it was MOD that was banned, not the author. Additionally, author was stripped off the ability to publish any kind of user-generated content for the period of 1 day to prevent immediate republishing.
And that does mean ANY content, including artworks, guides, screenshots etc.
He probably tried to publish an artwork or screenshot, got the error and that made him sad. :S
That process definitely wasn't a personal attack or anything negative like that.
English version:
It turns out that the translation mod cannot be applied to the latest version of the game, and the mod author thought it would be considerate to provide a 3DM download link for those who wanted an old version which was compatible with the mod. However, the problem is that this kind of activity violated the regulations of Steam. I asked the author about the issue of 3DM, but he did not response my question directly.
I am surely aware of the fact that it is not easy to make such a mod alone; nevertheless, it is a shame for everyone after all the mess occurred.
I would like to make an apology for offensive comments. The reason why I did so is as follows:
The author started a thread on steamcn.com/t198688-1-1 (it is a third-party Chinese fan site). As the OP, he complained about being banned but he did not mention the 3DM thing. Since this kind of prejudice happened several times before (not in this game), basically I thought he was facing some misunderstanding against him.
Eventually, after the further discussion, I noticed that the gray area did exist and I would like to withdraw my previous view.
Things happen. :-)
I hope that next time you won't assume the worst right away. 再见
It was a lesson for me. Perhaps I should focus on English forums instead. Personally, I have only played English games since the year 2014. Learning English is rewarding and benefits me quite a lot.
