Vaulters Vs Mezari

What is the difference between these two races? They have a different background, but the same units, same starting bonuses, and same victory type.... I dont get it. Are they actually different factions?

Mezari are a Vaulter skin, it was originally a bonus for buying a Dungeon of the Endless thing, but was later given to everyone for free. It's not supposed to be a "real faction" in the game.

Lorewise, the Vaulters who crashed into Auriga in the past, during Dungeons of the Endless, were called Mezari, it's a large space empire we will likely be seeing more of in ES2. After spending a lot of time underground on Auriga those crashed Mezari eventually became the Vaulters.

The starting hero for Mezari is better. She has Science Boost 2 (a flat 8 science per hero level) while the Vaulter starting hero has Science Efficiency 2 (+2 Science per citizen working science).
