Assimilate all minor factions?
Hi all. Just started a new game with the Vaulters and have some questions.
What minor factions are of most importance to me?
Should I try to pacify and assimilate every minor faction I encounter?
Is there a limit as to how many can be assimilated?
Or, should I Just assimilate ones that would benefit my faction?
And If I should only try to assimilate certain factions should I destroy the ones of no benefit or leave them alone?

theres a limit, you start with the one and can go up to 3 or 4 (cant remember exactly) always make sure to pacify villages in your regions but in terms of which ones to assimilate, alter it to your or your factions playstyle, ie the delvers for money are a good combination with the broken lords while the bos for food are good for most of them but the necrophages and broken lords. as you get them just look at the bonus and think which one you want to take.

Depends on your game and which victory condition you want to chase. If you just want a bog standard and going for a science victory (which is easiest for them) you probably want to look for Haunts and Urces. Haunts for the Science Bonus, Urces for the Building Cost reduction.

Maybe Nidya...

Up to you. There is no benefit to having all of them. You can assimilate only 3. And there is no point in assimilating say... Haunts, if you only have 1 village. The measely +5% to Research is probably not worth having another faction give you +15% to whatever.. or even more. I mean, personally i don't like Hurnas, but if you end up having 5 of their villages in your empire you'd get +25% Attack bonus, and i'd say that would be worth more than +5% research points. But ultimately its your decision.

Assimilate whichever is most opportune in that point in time and remember you can always swap them out.

You can get up to 3 minor factions to provide you bonuses. But subjegated villages, regardless if you assimilated their faction or not give you at least +1 Population to spend on your resource gain.

I think i am not quite sure i am understanding this. You should pacify and rebuild (if destroyed) all of them inside your territory, regardless of you assimilating them or not, because they give you benefits, like extra population workers for which you don't need to pay with needing more food (but they also don't count towards the district threshold)

Also just assimilate the factions you find most useful at the time. Assimilate them either for their Units or for the bonus their faction provides.

I mean if you are low on happiness you might want to remove say Hurnas that give you +25% attack, and take Eyeless Ones for their positive effect on your Happiness. You can change them out as you need them... so experiment with it.

Cheers Nick
So there is a limit on assimilate but not pacify?
Do you have to assimilate a minor faction to get access to units and bonus or just pacify?

You assimilate for Units and Bonus. You pacify for extra workers and peace.

I guess this should be clarified for the OP.

ASSIMILATING a minor faction is NOT the same as just conquering and rebuilding their villages in your region.
Assimiliating a minor faction is a factionwide thing and gives you a bonus for EACH Village of this minor faction that is WITHIN your territory AND under your controle. Under your controle means you have it conquered and rebuilt, or you fullfilled a quest from them.
Now there is no limit to how many villages you can cnonquer and make use of.
BUT there is a limit to how many Minor Factions you can ASSIMILATE. You can only ASSIMILATE up to 3 Minor Factions at the same time, but swap them out however you want to. This does cost Prestige though (the purple Star ressource...not sure if it really is called Prestige.) AND you need to unlock at least the second and third Minor Faction Slot through research.

I like Delvers (+5% dust/village), Haunts (+5% science/village), Dorgeshi (+0.5 luxury resource/extractor/village), and Silics (+0.5 strategic resource/extractor/village).

You also get the minor faction's unit for customization and production when you assimilate them. Fill in gaps in your major faction's kit; Morgawr, for example, seem to need more help when it comes to land units, whereas Cultists can use a good infantryman. Check out each unit's pros and cons and see what works for you.
The only minor faction within my territory are Nidya. On my border, I have some Geldirus.
How do I get detailed information on a minor faction, such as units, bonus etc?
All i can get when Hovering the mouse over their village is faction name and tile resource?
Try out this guide for more info on minor factions.

When first discovering them, experience, the Wikipedia and once you have subjegated a town they become ready for assimilation you can check their bonuses in the Empire Screen (laurel button).

As for the Units... they give one unit and thats the one they spawn.
