"Shared victory
Ever had a multiplayer game where the last dozen turns are rife with suspicion and mistrust, as you and your allies all separately angle for the victory, knowing full well that only one of you would win, hoping there was a way you could share credit for your hard-won victory? Hope no more! We added an option at game creation that enables shared victories: basically, if you win, you win for whatever victory you earned, and your allies get the shared victory.
Make sure you tick the option at game creation, because it can't be changed later on. Take comfort in the knowledge that if the option is activated, you are safe(r) from last-minute betrayal!"
Well nobody can give me a straight answer as to whether there is campaign coop, so i'm having to try to deduce the answer from these replies. What i'm gathering is there is standard strategy multiplayer matchmaking, and in the matches you can ally with other players, and that's the extent of playing with your friends.
I guess by random battles you meant FFA?
There is no campaign. It's a 4x, you build your little cities and grow your civilization. If you want, you can ally with a friend playing another civ and work together, although some work better this way than others.
On a related note to anyone else reading, I wonder if the ai will team up amongst themselves now that alliances are an option.
