And I don't blame you - some of the later expansions turned the game into a bit of a mess in my opinion.
Each person will have differing opinions on this, but personally I didn't like the Shifters expansion due to the pearls mechanic (where you go around collecting pearls in winter) - it just felt very gimmicky to me and almost like busy work, but I felt like I had to do it for the possible bonuses I could get from them.
Inferno added the dust eclipses (framerate killers) and the fire/volcanic terrain faction, and Symbiosis added some awful new giant units which felt completely unbalanced. Both of these expansions were outsourced to another developer and in my opinion it shows - I don't like either of them.
I like most of the other expansions,
Guardians added some nice wonder style buildings and the actual Guardian units, I really like those.
Shadows added the stealthy faction and spying which I actually really enjoy how they implemented in this game (although I know some people weren't as happy with it).
And finally Tempest improved the ocean areas of the map, added some weather mechanics and also a new faction.
All the other mini DLC's are worth having as they just add new quests and basic content - you can't go wrong with those.
I'm sure some people will feel differently but for me some of the Endless Legend expansions actually made the game worse, which is quite a rare thing in the 4x genre, and quite sad that it happened this way. They probably should have stopped after Shifters - I wasn't a massive fan of that one but I can appreciate what they were trying, and the winter faction is pretty cool. That's the last expansion Amplitude actually developed themselves.
Yes they'll probably be at least 75% off in the Winter sale. I'm surprised the game isn't on sale during Halloween as plenty of other non-horror games are.
