Age of wonders is very similar, it has the same turn based empire management with turn based army battles instead of auto-resolve only.
If you're considering civ, you might want to keep an eye out for Humankind, which is Amplitude's attempt at a historical 4X (the very genre civ is).
If you're interested in 4X's in general, I highly recommend Stellaris. It's a space 4X, so definitely not fantasy genre, but the best 4X I have played.
If you're interested in fantasy 4Xs, and are not afraid of older titles, maybe try warlock:master of the arcane, or the good old might and magic series. Nothing too good in modern releases, Endless Legend is as good as it gets there.
If you want a deeper warfare aspect instead, try some Total War franchise (Empire, Napoleon, Rome 2 and Attila seem the best rated and played so far, on the historical side; Warhammer on the fantasy side).
Go with Endless Space or Endless Space 2, if you want to stay in the Endless universe.

Civilization probably has the best one more turn that I've come across but most 4x games have their hits and misses about them.
dominions is sort of niche and graphics sort of subpar, it's challenging though, can easily get information overload.
Stellaris and Star Wars Empires are bit more strategy then 4x but sense like sci-fi/fantasy might want to check it out if haven't. Stellaris sort of hard to recommand because paradox keeps changing the game constantly it's more like Stellaris 3 at this point with all the DLC and changes.
Personally when people say Endless Legends is as good as it gets makes me sad, find it just ok.
Distant Worlds: Universe tho
What is EL2?
I recently got this and really liked my initial 10 hours. Little rough around edges. Fighting against a slaver minor and they seem to have endless troops so started get a little grindy.
It's definetly different.
While I like a lot about it, it's a tad harder to get into the just one more turn for me.
