Does Shared Victory allow 2 nations alone to win? NO
So, I was pretty excited to read in the last patch note that they finally put "shared victory".
For me personally, this was a very needed feature.
So, I started a game, super happy, 6 players, during my adventure I find a trusty ally, we siege together, we march, we kill, and finally we are destroying our last common foes, and.......the game does not end. We are, again, like old times, 2 friendly nations, brothers, in the map, with the game still running.
WHY?

So I quit, I go to the Start Game menu, and I read carefully "shared victory", it says "when you win for another condition, also the ally win".
Wow............just wow..........
So.....I have to win for diplomacy points, expansion 80%+, etc...stuff like that.
LOL
I cannot win by military.
For me, this is a giant Risk (the boardgame, u know?) and I must win by science, or stuff like that, to allow the ally to win with me? Why??

Almost all the win condition are useless as "shared".
Expansion 80%? Impossible, my ally occupies space, just like me!
Conquer all capitals? Ehm, no...my ally has a capital as well.

I was so happy to have the shared option....and now I find out it's so broken.
You can't win as 2 battling friends.

If your friend is Cultist you can win an expansion victory because he will only have one city. :p (maybe a super-tall Allayi as well, not sure as I don't know them much)
But yeah as far as I understand, Supremacy is never going to be possible as a shared victory.

The achevement for shared victory is bugged as well, it seems. I won an Economic victory with a friend, and he got no achievements while we were in an alliance.

The only place where it makes a difference is the Score Screen. It just simply lists you (and your allies) as the winners of a shared victory.

Excellent post methaller. I was also excited about shared victory when I first read it in the patch note. But now after reading your post I do realize that it is not as practical as I thought it to be.

If you're the only ones left...one of you can salt your capital to trigger a Shared Supremacy Victory.

If only you and your friend are left then you won. Do you really need a screen telling you that? Lol

Strange: I just won a Diplomatic victory with 2 AI allies, as one would do for a diplomatic win, and it scored the game as a "draw", with me getting the diplomatic victory and my two allies scoring shared victories. (There was one other surviving faction.) A bit more anticlimactic than usual!

This is how it should work (you win a non-shared victory and all your allies win a shared victory). Not sure about the "draw" part though.

I think draw happened when no one is "losing". I played with 3 other AI and allied all of them. I got Diplomatic victory and everybody else got Shared Victory, and the score screen shows Draw. Should cold-war-ed all of them before winning lol.

Well, for my win, there was one other faction I was at peace with, so it wasn't that nobody lost... still, a diplomatic victory should show up as a victory!

Ok, I just won a different game... an economic victory, while allied with 1 faction. It called this game a "Shared Victory" and not a draw (and then listed me as the economic victor and then the other faction as the shared victor). So maybe it's something slightly messed up about how diplomatic victories interact with shared victories?

Ive managed a shared victory a couple times now. But never through expansion or supremacy. So I wonder if that might be something that should be included in a future patch perhaps. Ie: combining land mass and subtracting capitals from the respective equations.
