Strange distribution of resources?
Getting back into this again in anticipation of the new DLC coming this week. Enjoying it again, but... Something seems off. The last couple of games I've played, the types and frequency of Luxuries and Strategics feel very strange to me, relative to my past experiences. I'm frequently getting regions that have very few of either, and entire swaths of the map are lacking in either early game, or late game Strategics.

The game I'm currently playing, for example. I just got to the 4th age, and so can now see all 3 tiers of Luxuries and Strategics. My capital region has no Strategics of any kind, and has only 2 Luxuries, Quicksilver (T2) and Hydromiel (T3). I have another region, admittedly a bit on the small side, that has no resources of any kind (only seen this once before, and the region was half this size). If the entire quarter of the map I have visibility on, I can see only a single source of Hyperion, and the only 2 sources of Glassteel are both some distance away under the control of a neighbor.

I am playing with tweaked world gen settings, but they should be preventing this very thing. I have region size set to large, and both Luxury and Strategic resources are set to Abundant.

I keep thinking back to older games I've played in the past, and I'm at a loss for an explanation as to why the 2 experiences are different. I used to frequently find regions with duplicate Strategics (I've had 3 Titanium before), or with a nice and neat distribution of resources from all tiers. I've had regions that are loaded in late game but lacking in early, and I've had the opposite.

Anyone else feeling this way?

Are you playing with Tempest expansion? They "drag" some of the resource deposits to the sea. Devs reduced this since the Tempest release, but it's still a thing. Either time to conquer the seas or disable Tempest (if you use it), since playing with Tempest on and on a map that prevents Fortresses from spawning (I think it's less than 40% water? You see a yellow exclamation mark in a yellow/orange triangle next to your selected faction if you selected Morgawr, so you will know) just gimps Morgawr and makes them a freebie for a neighbor.

i only recently got the game so i thought this was normal? The 3 games ive done (all with the standard settings) hae had less than 3 total of each resource on the ENTIRE map... I ussually jsut end up gearing my end game troops in gold only armour as the other resources are impossible to collect. Thought that was just a "feature" of the game

I do have Tempest, and it is enabled, but I didn't have this problem after it's release. I'm wondering if they poked something when they did Inferno, because of the changes required to add Volcanic Terrain and Anomolies...

It's Tempest DLC what moves ressources from land to water tiles. The more water your created map has (in %), the less ressources are placed on land. And the other way round. That's it.
