That's a moot point anyway because a good player on fastest setting can destroy everybody at around 100 turns or even before that. Once you have two powerful armies with strategic weapons, you are hard to take down. Enemy AI isn't very hard, except for the insane bonus they have on very hard modes.
The art direction is really good. A lot of the assets are cheap. Using 2d images with limited morphing for limited animations. 3d models are pretty cheap on polygons. Some of the art almost has a sketching/storyboard element to it.
But then it has a lot of style, good use of colors, and stands out well. Art, Music, and Presentation are definitely strong points for Amplitude.
