What settings to start with?
first of all: i have never played a turn-based-4X-strategy game in my entire life - i chose this one to be the first. so what do you think should be the settings for my first playthrough, both in terms of difficulty selection and gameplay settings?

Newbie difficulty as part of a 6 or 8 player game on the equivalent map size. Set all the AIs to random. Pangaea world type. Normal game speed. All victory conditions turned on. Leave the minor factions as normal. Don't bother messing with the other world generation settings.

There will be a school of thought that you should play on the harder difficulties (e.g. normal), but I'd recommend newbie as that gives you approval bonuses. You'll have plenty of things to learn without having to worry as much about approval on your first play-through.

Faction-wise, Wild Walkers or Vaulters are good starter races, but if you really fancy a different race just go with your choice.

You're probably going to make some mistakes first time, but that's all part of the fun.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the game :happypug:

thanks. by the way, do you mean easy difficulty or the even inferior one? because that one looks a lot like a joke... i don't know how it is in english, but in my language it says "a flower could surpass the strategic capabilities of this kind of player" lol

I did mean the easiest setting, but TBH there isn't a big difference between them. Once you understand how the game works, the harder difficulties are actually pretty trivial. The only reason I suggested easy is because the game is quite complex and it is easy for inexperienced players to make mistakes - or at least be inefficient. By playing on easy it makes the experience a bit more forgiving whilst you're learning the game.

Feel free to try it on a harder difficulty. You'll probably be fine.

I would also suggest one other thing - don't play to win, play to Learn. Endless Legend has so many systems and so many different paths to victory that there is a lot to take in. HOwever do not let you put you off, and don't worry if other factions are way ahead of you on the points score. "Normal" difficultly is actually not that bad - you'l face a challenge to be sure, but you shouldn't get overwhelmed.

Start with vaulters, mezari, drakken or wild walkers as these factions have pretty all rounded mechanics. The other factions require more extreme gameplay suitable only for players familiar with the basic mechanics.
