@Im a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Crow LOL a good war leader? He completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the war with stupid decisions... The only good thing done during the WW2 by Germany came from the generals. As soon as Hitler stopped listening them he screwed everything up.

@Etzel agreed, while hitler did take risks, he failed in many aspects of military command.

this is a good site to see some info on hitlers so called military genius
@im adding hitler would bring in some contraversy... especially with historians, survivors of the halocaust. If tehy wrote good things about hitler people would be outraged. wait for mods, someone will probably make hitler then. His military egnius is also heavily debated

Hitler was pretty bad as a military commander. He should've followed his eastern front general's advice and raced towards moscow to secure a decisive victory before the winter instead of moving the entire front inch by inch over a vast area. It would be cool if competent and talented generals like Manstein was introduced as a leader

Or just not betray Russia at all. He went back on his own idea of avoiding a war on two fronts. It didn't work for Germany in WW1 what made him think it would be any different once he had nearly all of Europe?
it ain't me 22 SEP 2016 a las 19:49
Well, imo he didn't really betray Russia. There are known movement of russian mobilization before the pact. And two opposite idealogies between two superpowers in the same continent can't exist. The preemtive strike was actually smart tbh since Russia was desperately trying to modernize their industry which was a decade behind.
Norton 22 SEP 2016 a las 19:51
I don't recall hearing Russia mobilizing. Industrializing and modernizing yes, but not modernizing. I know Russia had been fighting against Finland at one point which was for a while Axis aligned.

Oh well, it depends on what textbook you read nowadays
Etzel 22 SEP 2016 a las 20:20
I agree with Moon Man. War VS Russia was inevitable and both Stalin and Hitler knew that, striking first was an important advantage, but Hitler made so many mistakes in that campaign, mainly cause he became too arrogant to listen his generals... Postponing the attack to invade Jugoslavia and help Italy in Greece, wrong choice of targets and war goals, refuse to strategically retreat... He was so scared to get in a kind of was of positions like in the WW1 that he pretended to conquer all Russia just with a blitzkrieg. These are just the main things, list of mistakes is so long.
