the game is causing my computer to max out and after about 30 minutes of play freezes the computer leading to shutdown.

Did anyone fixed that problem.
I haven't head anything from the bug reports I've submitted to Aspyr. I'm just saying that Civilization hasn't crashed since Big Sur.

Same problem here on a 2019 MPB 16' and Big Sur
Nope, in my case it made it worse! With the introduction of Babylon, the game would still crash (though far less than before), but at least my Mac was stable.

With yesterday's upgrade, my Mac is back to crashing! :(

Let's go back to reporting to Aspyr! :(

on my MacBook Pro 16" 2019, 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB.

the game Freezes randomly. The screen freezes, then I can still hear the game playing in the background. I think I can even perform an action if I click where the buttons are. But the screen is freeze. A strange glitch happens after waiting 1min or trying to back to the desktop.

Have to reboot the computer entirely. Happens before 100 moves and then every 15-30 turns.

Did you guys also happen that the freezes are location-related?
It always happens at the same location on the map. I can avoid the freeze if I go as little as possible on a specific area around some towns or a full region. Depending on the game.

Example: In one game I was located on a continent, everything was OK. Then I send a boat to another continent, started to move in the area. After a few turns there, it freezes when I was selecting my boats. After rebooting, freezes happen only when I was coming back to this exact same region to manage those boats. So I put them to sleep and simply ignored them for the rest of the game. It was doing ok, I think it just freezes once in a hundred turns. I then settled in this region, and the same things happened again: the freezes were back. But this time with the new city I took near the boat location. No problem on the continent of my capitals.

I also noticed I can "avoid" the freeze if I move the camera very quickly away from the location when the freeze starts.

For example, the camera freeze and then I click "next unit", the camera will go to the location of the next unit (hopefully not in the "freezing" region) then after a few seconds, the freeze stops. It's tricky to do because it doesn't work when I try to move with the trackpad or the arrows. Only the "next unit needs orders" thing.

I've sent a report to Aspyr, did you guys found more work-around?

Nope, still freezing.
Just posting back after things working well for a couple of months with recent updates to the game (on my 16" MacBook with Core i9). I still sometimes have random crashes and freezes, but 85-90% of the time it works perfectly. I'm pretty sure it depends on the game save, because sometimes it happens repeatedly, immediately after loading, but not after I load on Windows, play a few turns, then save the game.

It's honestly pretty frustrating, to the point that I'd rather spend my time doing something else than rebooting or reloading over and over. Which is too bad, but it means I'm playing a different game, not playing Civ.

Oh well, I had similar problems with Skyrim on Windows in the beginning, maybe I'll come back and play more in the future. Or not.
Having the problem here on iMac. Crashes continually whenever I get a game up to around turn 75-80. Have a support ticket with Aspyr but no reply. My specs are:
3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7
24 GB 2133 MHz DDR4
AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB
for macos on egpu crash
the same issue, Mac 16
it can be a few hours at the beginning of a game when the map is still "empty"
but loaded middle/end game (after cooling a Mac) freezes in ~30 minutes

I can only add that switching GPU (with gSwitch or such) doesn't help:
with discrete GPU the result is the same - few hours from start / 30 minutes near the end
but with integrated it already crashes in a few minutes

one more thing:
quick Mac restart doesn't help a lot - immediately loaded game (discrete GPU) freezes in a few minutes, so I conclude the cause is a GPU overheating
which is both good and bad: good because lower graphics settings may make it heat slowly and bad because there is hardly the real fix from Aspyr

I have the same problem, after several minutes the game freezes - the game disappears and glitches appear on the computer screen or the picture disappears completely (files attached)
The computer is unusable and needs to be restarted. This is annoying, especially since I bought the full package of all the supplements

Computer never crashes with other applications, only when play - CIVILIZATION VI

I suspect a problem with the AMD graphics card and the game drivers that support it - for proof, take a look at this - it is not possible to use the AMD card - each time a message appears saying the game needs to be restarted - and on and on
