Apple silicone M1, Mac OS Sonoma, "is damaged and can't be opened"

Error message: "Civilization VI" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the BIn. The file was downloaded on an unknown date.

Reinstalling or rebooting does not help.

It's been answered many, many times over in the general discussion forum. That error message is actually the OS's security system objecting to Aspyr's expired certificate. You need to bypass that security to install the game.
