Chances are slim to none, I would think.

First, Apple hardware is... well, Apple. Android is all over the place. While some devices would have the capability to run the game just fine, there's no guarantee that an app is compatible with every device. With Apple, the devs know precisely the hardware they're working on and therefore can tailor the software based on these very limited conditions.

Second, the guidelines for what apps can be released based on performance, content, etc. (compliance) are a "must pass" when a product attempts to get released on the App Store. The same is not always true for Android, to an extent because of the multiple companies offering multiple devices. The "rules" are less enforced on Android which is not necessarily a synonym of good practices, business-wise.

Third, Android is "hackable" (for lack of a better word... can be tempered with??). Apple products are too, but it is less common, more difficult and basically results in loss of functionality due to the core features of the "Apple experience". If I was a game dev like Firaxis, this would be a strong point for me against releasing the game on Android, for example.

But I could be wrong. The app offer on Android has ramped up lately from what I observed, with higher quality products and "trusted" developpers so we never know.

It did, but it's riskier to develop for Android. Here is a quick glance at what I was describing but on a development level.

2K's pockets are deep enough but the return on investment is not a given. They could probably pull it off with an effective promo campaign though. I for one would be glad to see it on Android but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I understand that, but you having a certain phone doesn't change the reality of Android development.
Play Civilisation Revolution 2, I believe it’s for that (the first game was for PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS).

It’s for iOs and Android smartphones, there is also a port for PS Vita called Civilisation Revolution 2 Plus.

Hardware diversity is not a valid reason here. Nearly all Android devices released in the past two years have had essentially the same chipsets, mostly the Snapdragon 835 and 845 or Exynos and Kirin chips that are equally powerful. If hardware diversity really were such a concern then why do game companys develop for Windows instead of Mac? Same question can be asked for piracy. Both points are moot in the context of a windows dominated software development world.

Devs on android can also restrict compatibility for what Android devices and device configurations can download the game, like on iOS where you cant download Civ 6 on an iPhone 5 despite it still being supported. If it were limited to simply devices running a Snapdragon 835(or comparable) or better, then theres no issue here at all. The Snapdragon 835 far outclasses the A8 used in the iphone 6 that can run Civ 6. Even restricting it to devices with an 835 or newer still encompasses the vast majority of Android devices made in the last two years. Google Play also allows refunds if the game doesnt work right on someone's device then they can simply get a refund like they would with steam. Going off of Epic's own testimony for their development of Fortnite for Android they even express that this really isnt a problem and that Google is more than willing to help devs if it is.

Alot of the purported problems with Android development havent been true for a while now.

I think it is coming on android but only if it runs well on IOS.
Because porting a game is mostly problematic do to appearence optimisation and extra costs of maintaing the programm.
Hardware is not really a problem because an engine uses OS libs. and never interacts with kernel specific regestry commands. (atleast I dont know any which does that if there is i would love to konw it. Maybe an engine that uses cobalt, mips or bf as s.d.t.l XD).
Still because of the vast number of OS cycles which are spread throught android users it is super difficult and expensive to maintain a proper programm.
