Stuck in "Please Wait" between turns
I recently built a new PC and now am encountering an issue I have never encountered (at least I can't remember ever encountering it on my old machine).

When I end my turn, the game would be stuck, infinitely processing the AI's turn. As stated above, I've never had that happen in almost a 1000 hours, but now it happened to me twice in the same game.

Is that a known bug caused by some certain hardware/software interaction? Is there a fix for it (I'm not looking for advice on how to load saves, but a real fix, so that infinite processing won't happen anymore).

Have a good one
Jay

This happened to me, too, today. It became stuck at the Please Wait and I couldn't get out of it. The only difference is it updated just before I started playing it. Perhaps it's a new update that is causing the issue? Either way, if anyone is experiencing something similar and/or has a fix for it, that would be great! Rhi
A small update: happens every time I play the game, after a seemingly random number of turns.

I can rule out DX-version...happens in 12 as well as 11...

Maybe Civ doesn't like Ryzen CPUs? Or the latest AMD GPU drivers?

It is also the only game to freeze like that...no other game I've been playing on my new system has done that yet.

Anyone have a clue what could cause that?

Same here, I recently built a new PC with an AMD gpu (first time, all previous machines were Intel), and I'm having the same issue: I get inifinite loaders at random times in games when the AI plays. Trying to quit to main menu or desktop makes the game unresponsive, allowing me to force quit and relaunch. But it's frustrating.

Yeah...I can also rule out hardware related stuff, as it started to happen on my laptop (Intel CPU and mobile GTX 3080) as well.

same thing happened to me on seemingly more frequent now got a new PC intel here - both on direct x 11 and 12 - I get more constant crashing and stuck between turns and the game being unresponsive I had to restart and shutdown my computer --- never happened to my old laptop - I think it has something to do with direct X or maybe the windows 11 OS?

Have the same problem for some years now... never found a fix for this and game patches weren't helping either.
Tried DX 11/12, no mods, different game settings, maps sizes

I'm having the same issue now as well. I do have mods, but judging from what other people are saying, that's not the issue. Also, I have an Intel CPU and NVIDIA GPU.

Still nobody seeing a solution to this? Happening on my Ryzen 7 5800X & 3090. Not every game, but many.

I just went a few turns back and it was fixed for me, so idk.

Nope. Other than maybe this mostly happening on machines with fairly recent parts (nobody posting about these issues has stated they have hardware from 5+ years ago), we don't even see any commonalities, so... 🤷‍♂️

I was having the same problem. I disabled the barbarian clans mode on my game and I’m on turn 412 no issues.

I did have Barbarian Clans on if that helps anyone.

I have the same problem. No mods, a very vanilla PC (Lenovo ideacentre 510A-15ARR). Get the same behaviour with DX11 and DX12. Sometimes the error message claims there's a problem with my display driver (Narrator voice: There was nothing wrong with the display driver) but more often it just hangs. Sad that there's apparently no interest in fixing this. I have no helpful insights.

I reinstalled a clean Windows 11 and also circumvented the launcher via Steam game properties and I am no longer having the crash issues.

(After having upgraded from Win 10 to 11)
