Game Won't Load

No matter what I try, random start, configured start, any civ choice, with or without mods, my game says "Loading, please wait...", then goes back to the main menu. I'm seeing similar issues, but they have found solutions. Nothing is working for me... any ideas what is going on here?

It looks like if mods cause a crash for me.

I ended up having to disable all mods, then add them back in one by one to figure out that one mod was causing it.

Try the deleting of Mods.sqlite

i deleted mods.sqlite and it still kicks me back to the MM. Have expansion pack DLC but no mods. any suggestions?

You deleted while the game wasn't running? The most thorough steps I know are to close the game, completely remove/unsubscribe all mods, delete that file, verify game files in Steam, and then try again.

(Despite the name, Mods.sqlite isn't just about mods, it's the additional content DB and handles DLC as well as mods)
