Connection Issue

I have been playing Civ VI since release and using cloud save without issue. Today, the cloud save option disappeared. I am still connected to Steam and can see online multiplayer games, but if I click on the 2K emblem (which still shows a check mark), I get the following message:

Connection Issue
A connection to Civilization VI could not be established. Civilization VI features may not be accessible.

I already have an exemption for my steam folder in windows defender and I have tried restarting the game, steam, and my laptop. I also logged into 2k.com to make sure that my account is still valid.
