Can't Harvest Wheat?

Above picture where my builder is standing, won't let me harvest the wheat.

Reason I'm wishing to harvest the wheat is because the map is very filled with lakes and I'm wanting to interconnect the lakes to the ocean by building a canal. This would be a KEY area otherwise all of my other canals are very useless.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

You are playing the Maori. They are not able to harvest resources.

Edit: As for your canal network, you should be able to go around the wheat by building the Panama Canal wonder in one of the two tiles north of the tile with the wheat (the other would then be automatically filled with a regular canal, linking the lakes on either side of that city) - if it has not been built already.

Oh wow. Having nearly 4-5K hours on Civ games you would think I would know how to read all the info for a civ.. Thank you for the heads up there. Unfortunately the Panama Canal was required elsewhere.

So close yet so far.. 4head
